I missed that part too and wondered why hospital personnel wouldn’t have removed the wig in order to check the ‘lump’ on the head.
I heard that too and thought it to be a double meaning, as in make Merry as a couple trying to get back together and Merry Xmas as well.
If I’m remembering correctly, Roman Brady & Marlena lived next door to Alice and Tom. The Brady/Horton neighbors was a good tie-in to interconnecting the families and surely could be reconstructed again. Yeah, there’s lots of possibilities !
Didn’t EJ loudly proclaim he was ‘moving out’? So why is he still there?
I personally like to see Stephano ‘getting old’; to see the family deal with him fading into a Alzheimer reality.

The non-reveal of which girl is Carly’s daughter has us on the edge of our seats… OK – nose to the TV screen… waiting for that reveal so we can say "I knew it". I like that it has us frustrated… like the writers have two solutions in the works, waiting to see which one works the best!
Pammydog, thank you for bringing the historical aspect into this discussion. I too, am frustrated w/Bo & Hope’s actions and reactions in the current storyline but putting your comments into perspective, the past (and way-way-past) storylines were when DOOL was a highly rated soap.
And here we are begging that our soap will get a contract renewal, so we can continue with our addiction to the Salemites…. which requires good ratings. For the past 40 years, I’ve always said "I hate this storyline" but I really hate to admit that this is what keeps the ratings up.
Your reference to following the characters (books & soaps) is right up my alley. We want to see and feel the love, the hardships overcome, the hard lessons learned. The soap writes don’t agree w/me, but I want to see long lasting, connected relationships — the kind that finishes each other’s sentences!

I know where there’s a job for Rafe. With Ciara’s kidnapper off to jail and Hope leaving her job, the Salem PD has job openings. Sami has never been successful at holding a job for any length of time. She’s destined to live off others generosity. It’s a shame huh?
Who knows how Hearth & Home is doing?; if Lucas can just pick up where he left off? Since he disowned his mother, I don’t expect she’s been making his house payments, but taking in Nathan as a boarder must have been the solution. Kate has Stephano’s money as well as her own business. We’ve yet to learn what sustains Vivian & her ‘help’.
Hope & Justin could conceivable work at Mickey’s firm; or go into the PI business together. Carly will be drawing a paycheck off Salem University Hospital.
Does anyone see Carly and Justin hooking up?
It’s early AM so I don’t know what’s going to happen on today’s show, but wouldn’t Nicole want some clothes and shoes? I don’t recall her grabbing anything from a closet or off a shelf. Maybe she’ll get into the staff closet and be a surgeon w/booties but that’s not acceptable ‘out in public’.
I thought it odd that the police guard stared at a spot on the opposite wall while Sami/EJ/Stephano/Rafe were loudly discussing the situation. I would have thought, in real life, he would have glanced over at the ‘folks’ to be aware of any incoming threat. Must be they have highly trained police personnel in Chicago — not like a Salem cop!
Higher rating could be because of the high rate of unemployment. So many folks are home now and can tune into the show that has a link to their memories. Adding the returning cast members to the cast is drawing in those who ‘gave up’ being avid watchers ?? And makes you wonder if there could be more reappearing cast members to solidify the ‘deal’ when it’s contract renewal time with NBC !
Surely if John Clarke was asked & agreed to ‘make an appearance’ for the Xmas episodes (like they do with Doug & Julie), the news would have leaked out by now. But wouldn’t that be a kick? Would surely make my heart sing for those moments!!
Then we’d be in for a let down, as Mickey is not seen again. Showing the old photo of Mickey allows us to remember him as he was … thereby keeping him youthful (since Maggie is forever youthful). Writing a death story is sad but does open up new avenues for Maggie to travel. Oh, the possibilities — returning children maybe, or changing careers ??
Lucas is back w/a short hair cut which suits me fine. God gave Byran a youthful appearance — lucky guy. My thoughts are that Lucas is ‘going straight’ down a road wherein he’ll be a great father figure to Will and good friend to Maggie. He’ll be the warm & forgiving Horton that Philip was talking about. That character of Lucas has always been one to ‘blow’ and then rethink and apologize. It makes him human!
Way back when Will’s parentage became known, Lucas stepped up to being a parent. I appreciated that of him.
Did anyone see the show "A Day in the Life of… that Wally Kurth did when he filmed soap actors going about their daily routines? Bryan Datillo’s day involved his visitation day with his son and going to his parents house. The part Bryan brings to Lucas on screen is believeable when you’ve seen him in real life.
