CM’s twitter has been lighting up with sad tweets from him to fans and fans to CM. It seems he has shot his last scenes as Will Horton yesterday, August 23rd, and has made it official through his twitter account. There is also an article confirming his departure from DOOL in a publication called ‘GayStarNews’ — not confirming that CM is gay; rather that his role as Will Horton is over; but, they will be re-casting Will. So sad, but good luck to Chandler. He was the best Will Horton ever, IMHO. Looks like CM will be on until the end of 2013, then we’ll see a re-cast.

Best of everything to you, Chandler! You were superb in the role of William Robert Horton. You will be sorely missed by this fan!

I was hoping he would change his mind. I absolutely love Chandler in the role of Will. There will surely be some big shoes to fill for the next actor who takes on that role. CM will be missed by this fan, too!

A re-cast?  I’m not sure how I feel about this.  He brought something so unique to the role of Will – not just b/c the charcter came out but b/c he added something so special and unique to the role :(

I think I would have preferred him being written out with the door open for CM to return.  THIS SUCKS!!!

What actor would leave a role he had just won an Emmy for? The only reason I could understand was that he didn’t want to be in show business anymore.

That he wanted to go to college full time and finish his degree. He doesn’t come from a Hollywood family. I believe they live in GA. I could see that being very important to him.

but decided long before he announced it that he wanted to go back to school, and also wanted to see what other opportunities were open for him … and not necessarily acting. Kudos to this young man. He also told all of TPTB that he had no objection to a recast, which told me he had no interest in doing both acting as well as continuing his education, and that he had no objection to an immediate recast rather than the usual “keeping the door open for a return.” Wish they would do that with the Bo Brady character.

Yes he is from Georgia.  Conyers, East of Atlanta I believe.   A lot of actors his age have decided it is important to finish their education.  I say bravo.  Chandler has really improved since he first started and is far superior to the actor that portrayed Will before him.  I know they won’t call  that actor back because he quit over the Gay storyline and was recently involved in a real drug bust.

What a fine actor he has become!  Kudos to him for putting education ahead of fame and $$$.  He’ll always have acting to fall back on as anyone who has seen him as Will would be a fool not to hire him.  Chandler, I’ll miss you big time, but wish you nothing but the best!

Don’t know if anyone was but Charlies Sheen blasted days for "firing " his friend Chandler Massey.

Does Charlie know something or is he just jumping to conclusions that aren’t true?

if he (Sheen) knows something we don’t, or if he’s just making an allegation or what. Sheen is a bit weird himself, wouldn’t you say? However, this is an excerpt from the news article in GayStarNews:

“Massey has played the popular gay character of Will Horton since 2010 and been nominated for an Emmy each year, winning twice. In speaking with GSN Friday (23 August) evening, Massey said there had been no ill will between he and the powers that be. ‘I’m appreciative for Days and NBC for letting me out of my contract early so I can go and pursue these opportunities that I have not been able to pursue before,’ Massey said. The show released a statement of its own which said in part: ‘Due to current storyline and the timely discovery of new talent that the show feels is the right recast for Will Horton, a mutual decision has been made for the changes to taken place immediately.’ After winning his second Emmy in June, Massey said he planned to leave the show at the end of his four-year contract which ended in December.”

All Massey said on his twitter account was that he was glad the show let him out of his contract early; but this is news to me. Maybe they (the Network(s) did let him go, but I highly doubt it after winning 2 Emmys for his work).

I’m from Conyers. I think Chandler is from Gwinnett County which isn’t far. Holly Hunter, the Fanning sisters, and Jack McBrayer are all from Conyers, though. We breed actors, LOL.
