I can see no justification (even an insanity plea) for THIS one unless she changes to scene to make it appear as a suicide! However, with the way she handled the gun, I doubt that would be possible.
BTW, shame on the writers for leaving a gun in an unlocked drawer in a house where there are children. That was VERY irresponsible.
bringing attention to the gun in an unlocked drawer. I did not see a trigger lock on the gun either. Any of the children could have opened the drawer and had access to the apparantly loaded gun.

But ALL of EJ’s children were taken away once the truth came out. Remember? They are all at granny Caroline’s Pub. There’s only adults at the DiMera place.
but the kids had only been gone a couple hours! so the drawer was most likely unlocked. Also, I think we are only being made to think Sami shot EJ, I’m sure it will turn out to be someone else.
That’s what I was thinking. We were seeing things as Sami saw them. She was so enraged I’m thinking she burst into the room and only saw what she wanted to see. Then when she saw EJ was unconscious she saw the gun and shot him because that’s what she wanted to do but didn’t see that he’d already been shot.
Will has been unacounted for and he did tell Sami he had something to do and would see her later. It’s been speculated that he shot EJ at their last wedding and Lucas pleaded guilty to protect him. So, if that’s true who’s to say he wouldn’t do it again.
My bet is EJ shot himself and Sami just didn’t see everything clearly. She’s probably as good a shot as Hope and the bullet will be found in the wall or even the next room.
So Sami runs out of the house with the gun and throws it in the bushes? Her prints are all over it. Throw it in the river!
law abiding going on there considering this is the DeMeria household…thugs, guns, law breaking, etc., are pretty the norm there.
Was it too much to hope for that she would run in, see him holding a gun to his head, and try and take the gun away, so she could comfort him and let him know she understands and loves him still? Only in my dreams, I guess.
I hate that she shot him. Sooooo wish that at the very least she shot him and then would realize what she had done and tried to get him help. Instead she just ran away and has left him there to die. I just don’t really see her doing that. She was mad at him, but I’ve always thought she cared about him enough to not want to see him dead. And, as much as she’s hates him right now, she knows her children love him. Why would she want to kill their father? Johnny would be heartbroken! Oh, my poor EJ. 
I had a really hard time getting through the scenes today. I sure hope they don’t show these in flashbacks over and over again, I couldn’t stand it. I don’t think I’d FF, I think I’d just stop watching. I don’t know what it is, not that I’m an EJ fan, but kicking someone when they’re down, and how they portrayed suicide. It was sickening to me. I can tell it was a moment of temporary insanity for Sami, she was desperate, confused and scared. I can see that. I wish they hadn’t shown some of it though, and left it to our imaginations. I think the writers could have a great story if they write it well. Sami’s guilt over this while EJ’s life hangs in the balance. Nicole seems to have a solid alibi, not sure who the other suspects will be. Won’t it be obvious when Rafe quits the FBI?
Will. Just a possiblity. He could have listened to what Caroline had told him in the pub and taken it to heart. Grandpa Roman could have a few weapons stashed that Will could have gotten.
Steph and Kate were in the pub, so Kate is in the clear. Kate would have been one of my choices without the obvious pub stay.
As you said Nicole had an alibi, or she would have been my very first choice. In fact, I would have preferred Nicole, instead of her falling apart at the seams – not the tough Nicky we all know and "love".
Victor perhaps? He confronted Stephano on the pier and said something to the affect "I’ve taken care of the problem" referring to his shipment being delayed on the docks by the DeMerias. Given Salem’s time warps, he may have not been talking to Maggie in his living room at the time EJ was shot. Also, since they had never set up the story other than the confrontation between Vic and Stephano at the pier, we never heard about anything prior to this…right out of the blue.
If it’s not Sami, (the bright side of her shooting EJ is she’s going to not be able to get any more annullments in the future with the church with an attempted murder conviction on her) – they showed her shooting the gun but I would hope that (as someone else has hinted at) that possibly there was another shooter that Sami didn’t see and her bullet hit the pillow and the hidden shooter’s bullet took out EJ – although the trajectory of the bullet would be weird – (even Sami’s angle was strange) considering hit back of the neck near the ear? Little hard to swallow that one.
Mmmmmmmmmm, could be Rafe, since he did that thing with Nicole, he may not be the good guy that we all thought he was (which is tooooooooo bad in my opinion as Salem needed a straight shooter good guy).
Who knows? Maybe Marlena snuck into Salem to stop Sami marrying EJ and when she saw what he was doing…(heh, it’s fun to dream)…
It now becomes a who-done-it, which could take us well into the sweeps in Novemer. I like it!
