After all that build up we find out Melanie is good at counting cards and is being chased by casino security?  Major let-down.

I kind of felt that way but think there has to be more. I could see these two nincompoops kidnaping her or terrorizing her or something. It almost seems too trite and as we know soaps do not resolve things that fast and efficiently. Seems to more this may be the minor part of a major storyline…..

Melanie might have a gambling problem? Or maybe something to do with a mob controlling casinos SL? Maybe Stef or even Chad might be involved? Otherwise why would Melanie be involved? I have a hard time picturing her frequenting the casinos and coming out with that much cash. Then again, Mel was introduced as a kind of petty thief.

she was definitely a thief when she first came on the show, when she was still in Europe before coming to Salem.  Also, didn’t she steal Nick’s invention and used her photographic memory to copy it?  No wonder she’s good at counting cards!  LOL!

so that Daniel would begin to have “feelings” for Nicole and move that storyline along and also so that Mel would come to see Nicole in a different light

they tied this story up quickly.  I couldn’t stand more weeks or even months of her wandering around with that cash in her purse.  That being said, I was a little disappointed in the resolution. But maybe it was just used to set Melanie up as something other than the "Saint Melanie" everyone seems to be talking about.

than a thief. She was taking rich guys for their money and what she could get out of them but I don’t remember her ever being a thief. She did take that valuable necklace (diamond?) but I equated that more with her scamming than anything else.
