I just found out that my son’s best friend since third grade (he’s now 50) has a daughter in the women’s singles figure skating in the Olympics.  She isn’t expected to medal but please root for her.  Her name is Rachael Flatt.

Bonbon, I watched Rachael skating last night, and she did great..  Afterwards, I Googled her and on her video, she sounded very smart and well adjusted.  I hope she continues to do well.

did remarkably well. I don’t see either cracking the podium but for two young skaters they have to be thrilled with their solid performances. That footage of a 3 year old Rachel already showing her prowess was adorable!
And how ’bout Joannie Rochette – grace under heartache. I’m pulling for her.

her dad is one smart cookie.  Straight As all the way through school.  He was my son’s speech and debate partner and between the two of them, they were never beaten.  He always said when he graduated from college, he was going to manufacture tires.  His sign would say…FLATT TIRES!

As I said, she isn’t expected to medal.  You can tell as she did her personal best last night and that still only put her in fifth.  But, I’m guessing that 2014 will be her big year.
