if I can tell you what I know about the July 27th cliffhanger. Here’s what I know through spoilers on other sites so far:
It begins this coming week, with Andrew and Melanie. Andrew takes Melanie out of his apartment when he knows the cops are coming for Mel. He proceeds to take her into the tunnels below Salem, where he handcuffs her to a pipe in one of the tunnels. She tries to escape, but cannot. She smells gas, but is handcuffed to the pipe. A circuit breaker is shown throwing sparks and suddenly the walls and ceiling begin to rumble and debris and rubble begins to fall on her. Meanwhile, Bo and Hope discover who Andrew really is …. an escaped mental patient (named Corey). Somehow, and I don’t know how but she calls Chad, and they find out that Melanie is in the tunnels. Chad, Bo, Hope, Daniel, PREGNANT NICOLE and Maggie throw caution to the wind and proceed into the tunnels themselves to try and save Melanie, putting all of them in real danger as well. (Really, Nicole?) Will any of them survive?
Meanwhile, in a new setting, a fundraiser is being held in honor of Lexi in a huge ballroom (with an elevator pad), perhaps in a warehouse (with a catwalk….don’t know what that’s about yet), with all of Salem’s finest dressed to the hilt (about time we saw something like this again), which is obviously in the vicinity of where the gas is leaking in the tunnels and sparks begin to emit from a circuit breaker. As you can imagine, BOOM!!! The explosion takes out many attending the fundraiser, perhaps killing some of them, perhaps seriously injuring many (thus the reason for I believe 13 stunt doubles for current cast members). We will see cast members bleeding, unconscious, seriously injured, perhaps even dead. So, the question is …. Who’s dead, who’s alive (does anyone care)?
Prior thereto, E.J. will have been arrested because Ian has been setting him up to be the shooter of his dearly beloved fatha’). Don’t know if he is in jail or out at the time of the fundraiser, but he is required to wear an ankle monitor. (It’s rumored that he’s under house arrest, because Ian set him up). I’m not sure where this part takes place, because E.J. is not mentioned in Jason’s clues, but I suspect that E.J. was placed under house arrest and required to wear an ankle monitor. When he discovers Sami is in danger, he removes the ankle monitor to save her, but the red light goes off when he does. He is concerned about her because she is the only one who believes he did not kill Stefano. (Sure he is … I always said Sami is the ONLY one that E.J. truly loved). He is determined to save her because she has found a surveillance tape that shows a figure (which is Ian) removing the gloves from the trash bin after E.J. discarded them, which gives, I suppose, the Keystone Cops a reason to believe that E.J. has been set up. (I’m not sure yet whether this part takes place at the fundraiser or somewhere else, but it looks like we’re in for an EJAMI summer, kids; however, Lucas is still in her orbit after the Olympics, so stay tuned for that one.
Anyhooooo, the explosion is massive and results in many of our favorite people being badly cut, bleeding, and/or with serious injuries ….. NOW the big question: Who lives ….. who dies …..who gets out? Are there more cast cuts coming? Do they get Mel out in time? Is Gabi in there with Melanie when the place becomes an inferno (I know I hope so) …. Will Maggie, Chad, Daniel, Nicole, Bo, or Hope be victims of the blast?
Saddest rumor I’m hearing right now: Jack will die, perhaps in Jennifer’s and/or Abbey’s arms. No confirmation on that one yet.
Oh, well, at least we get to see a beautiful dress-up event in a ballroom again. I’m sure there will be a lot more surfacing in the next two weeks, though.
That’s all I know so far. I’ll keep updating if I hear more.
Wow thanks for all that patti, some stuff to look forward to, some to dread like a summer of EJAMI. UGGGG. I agree at least we get to see. Everyone all dressed up at least for a little while anyway. I can’t believe nicole would risk her baby when there were so many other people going down there to save Mel. At least carrie and Austin will be gone by all this I think. Maybe this will be the exit story for Bo.
But thank you for typing all of that!!!!
PR’s last tape date is somewhere around the end of this month, and his on-air exit will be in mid-late October. Will Bo go on with a re-cast, or will the door be left open for the only Beauregard Aloysius Brady I can ever accept?
ICAM about EJAMI, although I know she will still be torn between her love for Lucas, yet can’t seem to walk away from E.J., who will be determined to make her realize that they belong together. (Ugghh, right?)
Molly Burnett’s last air date is September 27th, but before then she will once again be working with Blake Berris (Nick Fallon); however, I don’t know what that storyline will be about …. just that it will be happening.
Ian Buchanan will cause extreme havoc on many before he departs Salem (alive or dead I’m not sure) on August 25th, I believe I read.
Eileen Davidson has already begun taping, but won’t air until October. Now, this HAS to be worth waiting for.
Also, we are not finished with Alice’s secrets from the grave yet, so I’m curious what else our dear matriarch will be revealing.
Is Stefano DiMera alive or is he really, most sincerely, dead? Is the half coin story line that has suddenly dropped off the face of Salem still on the table? Will it resurface in Italia? Did the name "Yvette" really stand for a specific individual, or does it refer to something else entirely, and what is on the other half of the coin? Who has it and what is it’s significance? What if Stefano knew all along who the other half belonged to, but lost track of him/her? Was Stefano DiMera perhaps a twin who imprisoned a sibling after his father died, or is our Stefano an imposter? Is E.J. the only full blooded Dimera? Or, as many suspect, have the new writers simply decided to drop the storyline altogether? That would be stupid, IMHO. Hmmmm, lots to ponder here.
At least I have an idea what to expect.
Two things I’m sad about though, are, EJAMI. Ick. Please no. For many, many reasons. And Nicole. I’m scared she’s going to lose her baby in this blast.
If she does, that’ll kill her. But I could see her and Daniel getting together as a result of that, since she was trying to help save Melanie.
They better not kill off Jack! And no recasts for Bo! And am I the only one who really doesn’t care about Eileen Davidson returning?
For some reason, I didn’t care for her the first time around. Didn’t like the SL, either. I just hope they don’t go there again.
The thought of Ejami makes me ill. If he really loved her, he would have never did what he did to her.
I don’t think he really loved her yet at that point. There must be something there now though for both of them to keep going back, time after time.
Although I really want EJ and Nicole to stay together, I always enjoy the dymanic between EJ and Sami. I just wonder what they will do with Lucas if Sami gets caves in to EJ yet again. Will they Austinize him? I hope not.
how can sami forgive, be friends with her rapist, the person who developed faux rafe, blackmail her and her son, but can’t forgive her mom?
Nicole is sitting at a table in the HTS with or near Daniel when one of MANY underground explosions begin to take place, causing part of the floor around her to cave in and fall on top of Melanie, Andrew and Gabbi. Nicole begins to experience stomach pains. C’mon, would they do this to Nikki again??? I hope not. Still don’t know who all of the fatalities are (there are supposed to be five in all), but I hope two of them are Gabbi and Andrew. I know Melanie must be saved becuse there are spoilers of her in scenes with Nick Fallon, who hasn’t even shown up in Salem yet. Haven’t read it as a spoiler yet, but I would bet that Madison dies. Another I hope is going to die is Ian. There are enough people on DOOL who can be described as "villains". IMO this character is not needed, unless he is, of course, a DiMera. Even then, I hope we’ll be saying buh-bye to Ian MacAllister.
I simply can’t imagine Lucas ever saying to Sami: "I want Allie to grow up to be just like you …. YOU’RE SO HONEST." Now that would make the earth rumble for sure. ROTFLMAO!
