Doug (of Doug and Julie fame) was married to Marlena (as in "Doc"?)  Now THAT is a shocker to me…never-ever-never heard that story before.  I knew I was learning a lot about the show from you dear people…but goodness  gracious me – I’m glad I was sitting down when I read your post Midwifemama!

Since the beginning in 1965.  That was the time my new baby was being fed and with no remote control to change the channel, I started watching the new show.  Gave it up a few times when I couldn’t watch (no VCR), but eventually always came back.  Enjoyed the show more in those days.

I thought you meant Doug instead of Don…I think I need new glasses!  Ooooops!  Sorry.

I was raised watching soaps…my mom watched all of them I think. So, Day’s was my favorite, and my mom would keep me up to date. Out of school in the summers I would watch, and as I worked as a hairdresser in Macy’s, the tv dept. was on the same floor, I’d sneak out on my break and catch as much as I could. Then I got married, had 3 kids and watched while I put them in for their nap at 1pm….Soooo, off & on for about 45 years!

Lurker here.  I watched for the first time sometime around 1983-84.  My roommate had been watched since it first aired.  I can remember seeing Roman fall off the cliff and before that, Eugene pretending that he was the father of Marlena’s twins (Sami & Eric), as Marlena was pregnant and Roman was undercover.  Everyone thought he was dead.

My first memory of Days was when Addie saved Hope life and was hit by the car.  I was pretty young and this must have been very traumatic to watch because Hope has always been my favorite character, even when she was about 5 and played by a really adorable girl.  Although I hate how she acts at times, she will always be my favorite.  I never really put the two together until I started typing this, although there have ben many times I asked myself why I had such a strong allegiance to her.  Funny how the young mind shapes your entire life!

I totally understand.  Days has been a part of our lives and I think we all have memories like this.  I know for me Days was my time to escape life growing up.  It was 1 hour in the day I could escape everything and everybody left me alone.  Funny how I have that memory growing up, it seems like a bad memory, but it wasn’t.  Days got me through my teenage years – lol

Roman was in a basement listening as Marlena accidently announced she was pregnant to Tom Horton and he was shocked because Roman wasn’t/hadn’t been around (or so they all thought).  So, good ole Eugene stepped up and announced that he was the father. Tom then insisted that they should get married!  Roman was having a fit listening to the news and Marlena couldn’t marry Eugene because she knew she was still married to Roman!

Don was married to Marlena, not Doug.   Don Craig was the one with the daughter, I think her name was Donna who was wild.

That is funny and reminds me of when I was in college. That is when Bo and Hope were first together. I worked for the traffic office and wrote tickets. My roommate and I would always request one specific area at 1:00 so that we could sneak into the one dorm with 2 TV’s. One had AMC and the other Days. Many years later when I taught school, one of our male teachers always made sure he had lunch or a specialist during Days so that he could get to the lounge and watch a bit of Days. It is such an addiction!

I started watching in the summer of 1983, just before my 14th birthday.  Liz Chandler was in jail for attempting to kill Marie and she had amnesia…thought she was still married to Don Craig instead of Neil Curtis.  Marlena was married to the "real" Roman.  I remember Eugene and Calliope, Alex Marshall, Tony, Anna. There was also some character they kept referring to as "the Phoenix" but I had no idea at the time who he was until  he came back from the dead for, I think, the FIRST of many times!   Shenannigans was the main hangout place with Chris as the owner.  Bo was just new on the canvas and OMG he was so HOT!  That long hair and beard and the leather jacket and motorcycle…..I was TOTALLY in lust!!!!  Hope had a crush on Roman at the time but finally came around and decided Bo was the one for her.  They were my all-time favorite couple.  They had just such a great romance and so many exciting adventures.  The New Orleans story was my favorite…..loved the great costumes.  So much romance in those days!

Days came on at 3:00 in the afternoon so I could watch it after school each day.  I remember the bus was delayed for some reason on the day of Bo and Hope’s wedding and I missed most of it.  I can’t tell you how furious I was!  We didn’t have a VCR at home back then.  I never actually saw the entire wedding episode (just flashbacks) until a few years ago when SoapNet played that entire eposide along with a few others during the Days 40th anniversary week.  I’ve watched faithfully since 1983 with the exception of a few months in 1992 and about a month in 2004.  I tried to give it up but just couldn’t.  Although it definitely isn’t what it used to be back in the 80’s, I can’t seem to quit watching.  It’s such a shame how they’ve ruined Bo & Hope, though!

I have been watching Days since I was in college, aroung 1988 or so.  We on our dorm floor watched Santa Barbara and Days.  I started watch Days all the time when SB was canceled in Philly first, then the rest of the country.  I have stuck with it through bad plots and recasts.  When my husband and I are wacthing another show (in primetime) and I say "wow that person looks familier" his joke is "was s/he on DOOL".  Now he even is starting to recognize some of the former Days actors.

By the way, keep up the great work with this website!  I have been reading it forever, and am now happy that I can post!
