I’ve thoroughly enjoyed Camila in the Gabi role – especially since she got out of prison courtesy of Gabby. Love the outrageous reactions and deliciousnsess (likely b/c I LOVE Sami/Ali and this is about as close as we can get – she is CERTAINLY no Ali/Sami but i’ll take what I can get.)
HOWEVER….
Camila cannot carry these emotinal scenes AT ALL. We’re supposed to be feel gut punched or heart wrenched when we watch her this week and all I do is crack up. That’s what made Ali so great in the Sami role – you rode the wave of emotions w/her (similar to how Eileen played Kristen vs. Stacy – who I am getting used to.) There’s no POP to these scenes. AT ALL.
I did like though when she told Eli Julie can just DIE. Cruel? Yes! But considering what Julie put her through…. and that her husband is dying…. can’t say I blame her. Was never a Julie fan – but Julie has forgiven people who have done worse than what Gabi did to Abby (b/c AFAIC the Nick thing was ALL HIS FAULT.)
all the same level w/Camilla which I have to put down to acting. She’s just not quite subtle enough in those sensitive scenes to pull off the empathy. That too is why I prefer Eileen to Stacy. But then I’m sure some of it is I’m not quite the Gabi fan as others.
I actually thought she was doing a good job. Yes, she doesn’t carry off the sad and crying as well as Sami, but I’ve shed a tear or two this week. And I actually enjoyed her telling Eli no way, Julie can die. My thought was how dare him! Talk about insensitive. And I do believe he was thinking hey can you give my grandma your husband’s heart since you didn’t call for help when she had her heart attack. It was insensitive. He literally could have texted her with all the heartfelt sympathy he failed to provide in person.
I was getting physical therapy while the show was on, but they have closed captioning. Today was so cringe-worthy I’m not even going to try and watch the show off of DVR, or at least I’ll fast-forward through those scenes. I was hoping Gabi would ask Lani to quit the force or break up with Eli. All that groveling crap that went on and on made for no-way-will-I-watch-this-crap TV.
I thought that Gabi would make Lani break up with Eli since she deprived her of the love of her life & she wanted Lani to feel the same hurt.
and I kept screaming at Lani, "get up and kick her ass" instead of kneeling and begging like she was a dog doing a trick for a bone. Gabi’s a bone allright….a bone of contention. I despise her now!
It would have made more sense to say Julie could have Stefan’s heart, if Lani quits the force. That groveling thing just didn’t seem appropriate for the situation.
