Welcome to Salem David Leisure, but everytime I see him all I can think of is Joe Isuzu and not the new DA.
When he is on screen, I always think of his character on the show "Empty Nest." I think his character’s name was Charlie. I saw one epsidode of that show taped live in CA in the early 90’s. Anyway, it’s kind of weird seeing him in a serious role. Even as the DA, I half expect him to get up and just start acting all silly.
I couldn’t remember the actor’s name, so thanks for reminding me!
Yes, all I can think of is his character from Empty Nest! I keep waiting for Richard Mulligan to appear…

I’m not sure it’s the Joe I thing because I wasn’t exposed much to that character, but this guy appears to be miscast to me. He doesn’t come across as strong/believable enough to be either a DA, a husband or a father.
that’s all I see when he’s on camera. I never watched Empty Nest so I’m not colored by that character. But…I have seen him (quite some time ago) in guest spots as a serious actor but couldn’t take him seriously then either. I guess he just has one of those faces that make you smile. He WAS very funny as Joe Isuzu and I loved that character.
trying to remember the show he was on years ago and couldn’t place it until I read here that it was Empty Nest. Thanks to all of you for mentioning it. That’s one less trivial item on my mind now.
Joe Izuzu was a character in Izuzu car commercials. Below are a few of them and you can see why people can’t take him seriously as the DA.
he was sooooooo mis-cast for this role. I can only compare him to somebody like Jack Benny trying to play Elliott Ness.
He was on the show when Maddie was just a faceless name so he may stick around to see Arianna go to Jail, he may be one to get EJ off when the truth ever comes out about him kidnapping Syndey AND we still haven’t gotten the details of what it was that Kate found in Maddie’s lockbox so he may be an integral part of that also.
