ParticipantI can’t believe any of these so-called “romances.” Here Rafe is supposed to be so into Carrie, and literally the moment she leaves and it’s suggested to Rafe he still loves Sami, gee, he suddenly believes it!

Participantand this show is never boring. I’m looking forward to this week where apparently outfits will be made of candy. Talk about a challenge! It should be right up the alley for that Japanese guy.
That one guy – is it Chris maybe? – could be a dead ringer for Micheal from last year.casey
Participantmakes me cringe about this show. That the cops are presented as such morons. When you take away this amount of common sense/realism, it detracts from the plot and definitely weakens any storyline.
As for Sami and EJ, favoritism from the top is blatantly obvious. They should not be getting this much airtime and so much is repetition.casey
Participantthat her attraction to Ari was just that. I think Jeff grew on her more and more as the show wore on. At first I thought he was too young for her (even though he’s older) but he seems like a level-headed extremely considerate and nice guy. I’m pulling for this pair to make it. Emily the first time around struck me as not too much going on upstairs, but I gained more respect for her this season.

Participantthe brightest or most well thought out character. He has tended to be impulsive and hot-headed and at times childish. His was a kneejerk reaction to EJ and getting him away from Will. ITA, he should have thought this through and found out the circumstances surrounding it being in Will’s backpack before acting further.

Participantfor Will today, though I strongly agree for the most part I don’t like the direction the writers are taking with him. In Will’s eyes Lucas, knowing what a basket case Sami is, chose to remain overseas while his son played the reverse role of being the parent to his mom.
But in any event, I thought Chandler’s acting was quite compelling today.casey
Participantand I sure hope Gabi gets her just desserts for this one!

ParticipantAlice Horton had kept a letter secret for years that Stefano finally read – saying EJ is NOT his Bio-son. Will got a hold of it and was using it as blackmail to “own EJ” as he put it. Now Salem PD (otherwise the Keystone Cops) has the letter.
Also, did you know Doc Dan is Maggie’s son?casey
Participantfor someone to bring that up to her. But knowing Sami it just won’t sink in.

Participantthe extensions but that awful color. Her hair looks flat and dull.

Participantalthough AI lost a lot of viewers, relatively speaking it still outdid just about all of its competetion. I think a new judging panel can only infuse some juice into the show, depending, of course on who they get. I think AI needs another strong very opinionated judge.
I do believe this past year had a better contestant lineup than several previous. And I can’t see Randy leaving. It’s not like he’s some high profile in demand talent.casey
Participantthe scene between Rafe and Nicole certainly left me thinking she had some feelings for the pretend dad. So I really don’t know what we’re supposed to believe.
casey
Participantnot for Nicole, not for Dan, but for this coming kid. It will have a mother who refuses to acknowledge who his/her father is, was having frequent romps with someone other than the dad, and oh yeah, where does Rafe fit in?
One thing I do like is at least the writing seems to be heading toward a bit more depth of feeling between the pair. If this continues, then I consider that a positive.casey
ParticipantAnd I don’t disagree with a word you said. You hit on something with Alice Horton being transfromed into a character that she was not in life. Once again that tragic mistake that has been repeated far too often – plot over character.
And Dan/Nicole. I’m appalled that a developing child could take a back seat to lust. I find this very tawdry and driven by the ubiquitous “sex sells” mentality and not writing with any depth. Now and then a conversation hints at something more, but we quickly go back to tabletop romps.
As for Austin and Carrie, totally ruined characters. I did not mind Patrick in the early Days, but this round he’s been awful.casey
Participantare these SLs the responsibility of the writers and how much the producers? Do the writers get carte blanche to come up with ideas? Are they in essence running the show as far as content? I read some of the writers’ comments that they were “hog tied” to upper brass when it came to creativity.
For me the glory Days were the big “sweeps” adventures that involved the entire town. Even when that pretty dumb Satanic Marlena story aired, I was there not missing an episode. That’s the difference for me – I was eager back then to tune in the next day; currently I am not.
And remember those masquerade balls and holiday celebrations? Those events, like in real life are what bring us together as family and friends. And as I’ve said many times, where is the fun on this show? Where is the music? Romance has dissolved into musical couples just out for recreational sex. -
