I’m not prude, but between Gabi & Jake, and Xander & Nicole, my ff button got a workout this week. Seriously, I didn’t find anything smoldering between Xander and Nicole, so that tear off each other’s clothes scene made me queasy. And as much as I see chemistry between Gabi and Jake, their scenes weren’t compelling me to believe they were in love. The writing is more like soft core porn for both of those scenes the last two days. I really didn’t need to see it.
I’ve never understood this whole Jake/Gabbi thing. On one hand, I’m glad they didn’t just do the old tired “Stefan didn’t really die and he has amnesia” storyline, on the other, why bring him back for a totally new character. So if your significant other passed away and you found out they had a long lost identical twin, you are just going to automatically fall in love cause they look alike? They aren’t the same person, so I just don’t buy it. Also, are we supposed to be rooting for Gabbi? Last I checked, she was a villian of sorts with unredeemable qualities. But then again, so is Bonnie and Kristen but they’ve both been written as people we are supposed to root for I guess? It just doesn’t make a lot of sense, one of the many reasons why we need a new writer.
