Holy-cow! They fired Brooke Burke-Charvet from Dancing With the Stars. Not only that, they also fired the musical Director, Harold Wheeler and the whole orchestra. No word out who will be replacing them but I always thought, “If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it.” It seems to be that both of them were integral parts of the show and a large reason for its success.

and this is a typical move for ABC/Disney. They did the same thing with the gal before Brooke, only she was pregnant. Anyone heard that Brooke may be pregnant? Just asking, cause that could be a reason if she is, which is an illegal reason to fire her, of course, but these networks and show owners don’t give a damn about the law, cause they know they can skate around it with other lies or excuses as to why someone is cut.

Now firing Wheeler and the entire band, that’s puzzling. Haven’t figured that one out yet, because I really loved Harold Wheeler and his orchestra. Obviously they are going with some sort of new musical numbers and could be looking for something newer and hipper, but I agree with the “if it ain’t broke…..” Didn’t see anything wrong with Wheeler or his band.

Going back to Brooke, it would not surprise me if they didn’t even replace her. Tom Bergeron did most of the work as host, anyway, IMO. Brooke was pretty, had been a former dancer/champion on the show, but other than that I don’t feel as a co-host she did that much, except maybe repeat the same standard questions to the contestants and pros time after time. Maybe they’re just trying to cut back on production costs, I don’t know. I’ve heard rumors that Brooke was not popular with fans and took some extremely unpopular hits on line and with the social media, but Tom is extremely well-liked, that I do believe, and he has that popular kind of pleasant personality and build-up with the audience in the studio, as well as the dancers and contestants on the show. He’s definitely a keeper for me.

I felt Brooke was superfluous, just eye candy. I mean who on earth couldn’t ask those obvious questions? If they can save a salary why not and especially if the ratings are down. I doubt Brooke is raking in new fans.
Also maybe if the number of seaons were cut down it would be more attractive to viewers. Once you start saturating the airways with these reality shows it’s not fresh any more. Just like with Idol.

Erin Andrews is going to take her place. She danced with Max a few seasons ago.

I also heard this news yesterday and just heard about Erin Andrews as Brooke’s replacement.  Tom could and should do this show alone.  I don’t care for Erin Andrews at all.

The most surprising news to me was the firing of the entire orchestra.  I read that they will be replaced by music recordings so it probably means there will be no band at all.  They did say they are trying to appeal to a younger demographic.  Figures, since most shows are catering more and more to a younger audience.  This show is pathetic.

I also remember reading yesterday that they didn’t think the orchestra would sound right when playing more modern music.  What?  I thought it was a ballroom competition.  Well it shouldn’t really surprise me as they were already heading in that direction of playing less and less authentic big band/latin songs and more current songs that didn’t fit the dances.

than I am Brooke, although I don’t see where Andrews will be any kind of improvement.. The one thing that was a big disappointment for me in this show was when the music they were playing did not fit the dances. I don’t believe modern music goes with ballroom dancing. The biggest one is the Paso Doble when they try to put some BeyoncĂ© or Timberlake music with it. It just ruins the whole effect.

I don’t think they can do much better than Wheeler and his orchestra and if they go to recorded music, well that’s absolutely criminal. Especially the singers. They were so extremely talented and could pull off practically any song. It must be that almighty dollar/ratings. Forget about entertaining the fans.

    Too bad, just too bad.
