I have to say I’m quite pleased with the way they have written Sami’s reaction to Will’s murder. I’m so glad they didn’t have her normal ranting and raving and screaming and crying. This “shock” she is in is much more believable and, IMO, much more emotional than when she goes off on one of her rants. I can actually feel her pain and think she is doing an excellent part with these scenes. I enjoy the juxtaposition with Lucas’ over the top grief with her calm in-a-trance demeanor.

Oh, and when Sami told Will they would keep the tigers away, I totally lost it. In fact it brings tears to my eyes again just remembering. Very touching line.

but, of course, she is numb to the bone right now.  She buried her husband a year ago, practically to the day, and now she will be burying her first-born child, and I think that just hasn’t quite clearly entered her mind yet.  I loved that John hugged her and said "goodnight sweetheart" and telling Marlena he thought Sami was in trouble, and then that last scene with her sitting on the bed and the camera closing in on her gorgeous eyes just screamed total meltdown coming, and I expect we’ll see it very soon.

I also loved that line:  "don’t worry, daddy and I are here to keep the tigers away!"  OMG, that hit me hard as well.  My poor eyes…bloodshot once again today.  Beautiful work by BD and AS.

i found the role reversal a nice touch. So often, the woman falls apart and the man is stoic. I think tha Sami was trying to process the whole situation and so refused to allow any emotion to come out. Lucas was already on the next stage. When Lucas asked he what was wrong with her because hse wasn’t acting like herself, I thought it made perfect sense.

THey both did a great job.

Alison looked a bit older. Not in an aging way but more a mature woman. I’m not sure if it’s simply the holding the rage inside or if it’s actually Alison herself growing older. She also seemed a bit thinner than I recall so that might be it too.

I had to chuckle when Sami mentioned Will was stubborn (or something along those lines) and Lucas said we know where he gets that.

    BOSSY!!!!  LMAO  So perfect!!!

As always – AS was amazing!!!  LOVE how they are writing her with this – VERY real and VERY emotional.  The break down will be HUGE!!!

I was expecting Sami to explode any time.  So then she goes in Chad’s room and starts to smother him.  Is she going to be the next killer.  I hope someone walks in the room where she is holding the pillow over Chad and she gets arrested.

she ever put the pillow over Chad’s face did she? We just saw her standing there, holding the pillow, breathing hard and looking at Chad. My guess is he will wake up and say something to her. What I really would have liked to have seen was that Sami went to the hospital and Stefano walked in on her and talked her down telling her he knows how she feels having lost children himself but that Chad was Will’s’ friend and he would never have hurt him and THEN Sami broke down. Would have been a great bit of irony, IMO.

The bigger question is how did she get into the room with the police guarding it and the desk right outside? Good job again by the Salem Police Department, LOL

but I’m sure someone will walk in on her attempting to smother Chad, but she will be stopped; not by the police or a hospital staff member, but by a family member.  Chad is in a deep coma, according to Kayla, so I don’t expect him to wake up, plus he’s handcuffed to the bed so even if he would, he couldn’t protect his self.  I don’t expect Sami to murder Chad or anyone else for that matter.  She seemed to be taking up for Chad when she first realized he was the one being accused of Will’s murder.  She’s going on everyone telling her (at least Rafe and Hope) that all the evidence points to Chad.

Once I saw that “Sami Look” ala the pursed lips I knew she’d try and off Chad. In this respect Sami has not changed from the shoot first and ask questions later. Wait til she discovers she’s got the wrong guy.

and had it there for a while before Marlena came in and stopped her.

I’m sure the PD let her in because he is her brother-in-law so he is family.

she did put it over his face but it was the next episode, not the end of the episode we were talking about. And she used Daddy’s the chief of police to get her in.

So she suffocates Chad and then what? She thinks she’ll just toddle off back home? Not really thinking about her young kids and their mom off to the pokey. But of course, we knew someone would stop her so that’s ok.

At this point Sami is the weakest part of this story for me.  I’m bored of her same old same old.  I don’t care about the letter from EJ.  She never grows up, never learns.  All her drama is boring because there is never any growth.  Would have preferred if she just mourned her child and focused on being a better parent to the kids she has left than she was to Will.

I once read a very interesting book on death covering lots of areas. One thing that came to mind that we see often on Days is, when one loses a loved one at the hand of another, car accident, murder, etc. revenge doesn’t usually come until after the other main stages of grief have passed. I believe first it’s shock then disbelief, then denial and I forget after that. (Just looked it up because I was interested… “The seven emotional stages of grief are usually understood to be shock or disbelief, denial, bargaining, guilt, anger, depression, and acceptance/hope. Symptoms of grief can be emotional, physical, social, or religious in nature.”)

But, right away, we see Sami wanting to kill Chad rather than focusing on her loss. It said in the book that the loss is so severe that other emotions can’t get past that until later. Maybe the writers ought to read it. Unfortunately, I forgot what the name of it was but I “think” it was by Katherine Kubler Ross…maybe.

As an aside, I have experienced a very lot of death in my almost 76 years and I will say I have found just knowing you tend to go through those stages seems to help because you know it’s not going to last. If only you could comfort others with it but they have to experience it themselves. I just buried a very good friend and would have done anything if I could have eased her daughter’s pain.
