Yes, I know this is only a soap opera but can Sami possibly endure any more pain and heart-ache in her life.  I can’t imagine anyone in real life having so much grief and stress thrown at them without snapping.  It seems like as soon as one thing has been resolved, something else falls down on her head.

Good grief, she’s lost how many lovers, her kids have been kidnapped, she lost a child she thought was hers (which they say is the most painful grief a person can experience), she’s been hit by a car, she’s had amnesia, she’s been gas-lighted, been refused contact with two of her children, had a son lose an eye to cancer, and now her husband is in a coma in the hospital facing possible brain damage.  (I’m sure I’ve forgotten a multitude of other things.)

If all that had happened to me, they’d for sure have to put me in a padded room.

person and not a soap character.  Makes my life and those of my friends seem quite simple/boring/contented? lol

If she had any sense in that  hairbrain of hers, a lot of her problems would not be happening.

to the sage advice of anyone, particularly her husband. If she hadn’t gone running off like Rafe told her not to do he wouldn’t be in a hospital bed. And when she promised to listen to him from now on – how long will that last?
It’s really hard to find sympathy when her impulsiveness has put obstacles in the way of hanging onto her children.

I use to think that way about Marlena.  She lost an infant son, her sister was murdered when the murderer thought he was killing her, her husband was presumed dead, he came back, her infant daughter was kidnapped by her teenage daughter, her husband was killed, he came back, he was killed, he came back  and don’t forget the number of times she’s been kidnapped and held prisoner by Stefano, she’s been possessed, she was accused of being the Salem Slasher and actually had memories of doing the killings, her husband was in a coma then came back then she watched him get run down and die then came back but as a robot then he was paralyzed trying to save her.  All the time she regained the good sense to be able to counsel and help others.

characters up until about a year ago – she is never going to change, "hairbrain" she is and "hairbrain" she will always be.  I have no sympathy for this character anymore…and boy is she a character!

It does make you think your problems are minor compared to what they go through.

I know most of her troubles are brought on by her childish tantrums and insane courses of actions she takes when she feels she is wronged.  I realize that she refuses to listen to reason, even when the person offering it is Rafe.  However, it’s not always her fault.  Many times she’s taunted by another (Nicole/EJ/Stefano/Kate), but, I’m never going to hate this character the way I seem to have no problem hating on others.  When she met Rafe and it was obvious they fell deeply in love, I thought, FINALLY, because as far as I’m concerned, there were only two men Sami ever truly loved.  The first, of course, was Lucas, who now seems to have become her best friend; the other is Rafe.  I was shouting for joy when the writers finally gave her a chance to be happy, without being tortured by those hideous DiMeras (Lexi and Chad excluded), because Rafe would always protect her and calm her.  But, no such luck, because the writing for Sami is, always has been, and always will be, horrendous.  Not only is it not entertaining, but there will always be an insecure writing team who is AFRAID to change her, and determined, come hell or high water, to keep her connected to E.J., and for what…..to keep the fanbase wars going?  That is such b/s …. most people are totally sick of them.  This possible doppelganger storyline makes no sense whatsoever to me, since it is obvious they are going to create a triangle with Nicole/EJ/Taylor.  Sami is now willing to sign the custody agreement (strictly because of Rafe’s persuasion), so what’s the purpose of it? NOTHING, at least where Sami and E.J. are concerned.  It’s purely a plot to show that regardless of what E.J. has in his life, his main goal is to continue to please Stefano in every way, and this is what Stefano wants more-so than E.J.  If in the end, it means hurting E.J.’s children by depriving them of their mother through her one true love, Rafe Hernandez, then so be it, because in the long run, if truth be told, it is what Stefano wants.

I don’t and won’t ever want them together again.  Too bad that Nicole can’t (because of the writers) be paired with EJ – they work well together now.  Nicole knows to take anything EJ says or does not at face value.  And another triangle to endure – bleeeeaaach!

I don’t care much for Rafe, (too much of a goody two shoes for my tastes), but he’s growing on me, especially, if we see how he handles this doubleganger role.  I am, however, going to enjoy watching, (even though this is a rinse and repeat of my beloved John’s story line from years back), to see how Sami reacts to a "changed" Rafe.

I was so much of a Sami fan for years, now, since last year I just FF’d because I’m sick of the same scene with her over and over again, different day but same scene.  If I were Alison, I’d be asking Corday for a change, since it seems that Sami character is the star of the show and could get what she wants.  Turn her into another Marlena!  The show is really missing a character like her.  Let Mel or Chloe be the whinney, crazy, off-the-wall woman if that is what the show insists on doing.

have very little sympathy for Sami.  She is her own worst enemy.  She is selfcentered and impulsive, with little regard for anyone else, and she refuses to listen to anyone who might care and have some good advice for her.  It seems that all her whole life she has been determined to self destruct.  She has not changed at all since I started watching many years ago.

Let’s face it, the whole accident is just a plot device to make it easy for Stefano to switch the two Rafes. Just when it seemed like Rafe was being a positive influence on Sami they have this silly new rehashed plot with the two Rafes so they have to take Sami back to square one so she can cause an accident that benefits the Dimera’s. Now, Sami will be totally redeemed in my eyes if she is smart enough to realize this is not her Rafe, which hey, once they hit the hay should be a relatively easy discovery I would think. But we’ll see.

I respectfully disagree. It is EJ who cannot and will not accept Rafe. I really think that it because Sami chose Rafe over EJ and that is something that EJ cannot accept. It is OK for him to cut all ties but he is not about to lose to another man, especially Rafe.  remember how important it was for him to make Sami choose him over Lucas?  EJ wants to be in control Stefano is just the instrument to accomplish this.

when posters are describing the shenanigans of Chloe, Nicole, Hope, Carly, Melanie, Kate, yadda, yadda, yadda, I could go back to 1965 with the characters.  The truth of the matter is that people who hate Sami are never going to change their opinion of her, no matter what she does or doesn’t do.  I simply feel the writing for Alison Sweeney is horrible and because of it, I cannot and will not put all of the blame on Sami.  I despise the character of Nicole and could scream when people try and justify her actions by making her out to be this loving, caring, mother-of-the-year wannabe heroine most of the time, but you know what …. she really is good and kind when it comes to Johnny and Sydney.  But that doesn’t justify her actions most of the time, and I’m sick of the excuse of, ‘oh, poor, poor Nicole couldn’t catch a break in life.  Sami may, indeed, be her own worst enemy, but 90% of the female characters on this show can easily walk in her shoes.  I think I’ve described her that way myself at times.  But, I prefer to cut her some slack when I critique her.  She’s certainly not the only one running around Salem acting like she belongs in a Looney Tunes cartoon; but, she’s certainly the one given the most flack for it.  The only certainty of a soap fan is that we all have our favorites; those we love and those we hate and those we love to hate.  I’m just a little sick of the Sami hate train I see all over (not just here) and think it’s time she’s given a well written storyline of her own where she will be given some credit or praise once in a while ….. you know, like the DiMeras and Nicole always seem to get.

but Stefano is the one who devised this whole doppelganger plan, and it will be Stefano who is determined to take Rafe out of the picture.  E.J. will agree to it, but it will be Stefano who convinces him, once again using the children as pawns.  It was always Stefano’s idea from the very beginning.   Stefano had Rafe2 in the basement long before E.J. knew anything about it.
