I must say, I am surprised no one has commented on yesterday’s (Wednesday, 8/19/15) show.  First, it was wonderful to see the credits roll and confirm the new writers’ work, Josh Griffith and Dena Higley, and the work definitely showed the improvement.  Out with the old, in with the new, and such a treat for fans who have long waited to love their soap once again.  Even seeing Paige, JJ and Kyle as one of the 4 segments introducing the new writers’ work, transition was good and showed me a balance to the show I have not seen in quite some time.  I know this story is on the way out, along with True O’Brien, and I can’t say I’m sorry to see it go, but I think we will be surprised to see how this young lady exits, along with the actor portraying Kyle, which should only be in about another week or two.  Then we’ll see what they have in story for J.J.

The rest of the show, for me, was top grade compared to what has been forced down out throats with TomSell at the helm.  John and Malena; Marlena and Kate; Rafe and John; Hope and Julie (lots and lots of Bo talk); Rafe and Hope (with explanations, for a change, as to how Rafe can be allowed back on the Salem P.D.); along with some very exciting scenes with Clyde and Aiden and the start of what I believe will be some high-action scenes leading into the murder(s)/serial killer mystery over a long and huge umbrella sl involving many characters, new and old, including upcoming exits and welcoming back some returning vets, as well as a brand new teen scene, aging the children of some very legendary characters.

So I say, hold onto your hats, my dear Salem friends, because I think we’re finally going to really enjoy this ride.

a change all week and hope it continues. But I also remember TomSell starting out positively too and it quickly went downhill. I think we’ve been needing this serial killer SL for a long time which hearkens back to the heyday of this show. I am so looking forward to the great feeling of anticipation for the next day’s show. When did that last happen?
But as for the teen scene I am still skeptical and hope I will be pleasantly surprised.

It might be interesting. Usually the teen scene SLs are in summer when younger people are off from schol. This one is starting in the fall. Perhaps it will be brought in slowly.

just a small, rather almost insignificant thing, but has anyone noticed the little touches that make a scene more believable?  For instance, there were some scenes in the last couple of days where we heard barking dogs in the background, birds chirping in the park, sights like leaves blowing in the wind, and their outdoor scenes showed both Marlena’s and Hope’s hair moving with the breeze while this was occurring.  I know it probably sounds like a stupid thing to bring up, but these are the things, to me anyway, that make the scenes come alive along with good acting and dialogue.  I don’t know, maybe it’s just me.  I also think the background music is much better when a scene calls for it, like that somewhat creepy music played yesterday when Aiden was giving Hope that lying snowjob about Clyde being innocent and again when she offered to take him home with her.  Even the dialogue seems to have been brought to life by the actors.  I think they’re having a great time acting now, and it’s certainly showing.  Also, so loved the touching scenes yesterday between Marlena and John, which, by the way, scenes are lasting much longer than 20-seconds and this, too, is impressive.  We are actually getting conversations that can be followed now.  I’m just loving it!

I did note those outdoor noises but wonder do the writers have say over that? Or do I recall this writing team getting more control?
    Keep it coming Days!

as well as the director(s) and other members of the crew deciding scenes needed to be more believable.  A simple thing like placing a fan on the scene to display soft breezes and hair and leaves moving in a breeze is adding a believability to the entire scene that I haven’s seen in years.  Same thing with the background sounds, even though we haven’t seen a dog on the show since "Pookie!"  LOL.  I just think it adds quite a bit to the believability aspect in the scene.  Yes, by all means, keep it coming DOOL!!!

the writers include all that. In fact they often even describe the wardrobe if it’s something special they want to contribute to the storyline. They write in the scenery too, like where it takes place, is it dark or bright, that kind of thing. If you look at the director’s copy of the script, you’ll see all that stuff.

But one thing that was pretty unrealistic was that Aiden’s blood never dried and turned brown like real blood does. It stayed bright red, even when they got to Hope’s house. I also thought it was kind of strange she waited until she got him there to get a towel and wipe off some of that blood while in the hotel room. After finding out he was okay, that’s probably the first thing I’d do.

Although…the way Clyde kicked him in the side, he wouldn’t have been standing and walking like that. He should have had several broken ribs and if you’ve ever had one, you know how painful and debilitating they can be.

I find it incredible how people on this show ALWAYS are able to discern computer passwords (Nicole! Sami! et al) or safe combinations. I’m surprised JJ had to depend on it written down rather than just “happening” on it with his incredible mathematical skills.

How did you get the safe open? Oh, I just accidently found the combination taped to the bottom of a desk drawer. I don’t think Kyle is that stupid. That’s the first place you’d look for something like that. Duh!

I thought Marlena’s dress was elegant and tastful. She looked beautiful. Glad to see her and John reconnecting slowly!

Beverly Hills 90210 yesterday and who should appear but Aiden. I didn’t know he had been on there. But then, I never watched it so how would I? He was a good lookin’ dude back then too. Those eyes…
