there were all of these characters being shown in some kind of shadow watching other characters interact who were not in shadow.   It’s been a long time since I’ve watched and was wondering if the shadowed characters are dead and were just there watching invisibly.  Just wondered if anyone else here watches who could give me an insight.

I have read that ABC changed their head of daytime and they are calling something else and seem to be contented with the cheapness of the that show called The Chew and have The Revolution (?) another show similar to Chew ready to take over OLTL’s time slot and there’s another show ready to go into production with I think it’s Diane Sawyer that originally was said to be considered to replace either of the first two or GH if the others are successful.  Not a good thing for soaps!  Plus, GH is losing some of their actors and others are coming on with the new former OLTL heads.  Lots of changes and they seem to be wanting ‘cheap’ talk stuff so they don’t have all the actors’ and writers’ etc. stuff of a good soap. BAH!!

and it was just SOOOO horrible I only made about 15 minutes before I had to switch channels.  I’d really be interested in seeing if these new talk shows are garnering higher ratings than did the soaps.

BTW, we have free Showtime this weekend and I watched Inglorious Basterds last night.  Although I don’t really care for Quinton Tarantino, this was a really good movie.  The guy who played the German security guy was EXCELLENT.  He was nominated for an Oscar but don’t remember if he won.  (looked it up, yes, he won)  Anyway, I recommend the movie.  Just be aware, being a Tarantino movie, it’s pretty gross.

will be nothing more than a lovely memory for its fans.  Too bad, but truthfully none of the soaps still on the air are producing a truly good product.  Y&R drives me crazy, it’s so bad right now; and GH is going around in never-ending circles with their storylines, (never watched B&B), and DOOL has always been my favorite, but it, too, seems to be slowing down.  I’m almost afraid to say it ….. no veteran actors are going to be able to salvage a show if the writing isn’t there.  The writers of soaps today just cannot compare with the ones of the past, so my solution is to just enjoy watching DOOL, Y&R and GH while they’re still here.  This coming week is OLTL’s final week, ending it’s forty-something year run, and then it will be replaced by The Revolution on Monday, the 16th.  Too bad; that one was really getting good.

forty years of "free" entertainment, with an entirely new generation – they wouldn’t have to build sets, hire lighting crews, might have to pay the actors a small residual but cheaper in the long run…Sure a lot better than sitting through endless so called experts on "talk-shows" even that Oprah lady knew it was time to get out of the talk shows when her ratings started to dip – If I want to talk, I’ll pick up the phone or invite friends over.

that the reason she left CBS was because ABC promised her some kind of daytime show in the near future and it was mentioned as replacing GH whenever it happens.

who else are you referring to as a "shadowed" character?

Meanwhile, I’m frying my brain trying to figure out who killed Abbey (it wasn’t an accident); who really killed psycho Lisa, where is twoce as psycho Franco and why is he still here; who is going to be the serial killer in Port Charles (yes, there is one); why is Jax still in the shadows, spying on Carly and Josselyn; what is the whole truth behind Franco’s obsession with Jason; why can’t Robin just tell Patrick and truth, that she is dying and her HIV has progressed; did Lisa exchange Robin’s meds for a placebo and that’s how she wins after her death;  —- and who in the hell is the Lady in White?  Is it Courtney?  If you haven’t watched in a long time, you might not even know who some of these characters are.  In any case, I just can’t stay focused on GH because there are so many unexplained, round and round never-ending stories on that show right now; it’s driving me insane just to watch sometimes, knowing that it will be the same the following week, and the week after that, and the week after that.  Maybe Feb. sweeps will clear some of this mess up.  I hope so!

Alan.  I think I heard that Alan died some time ago and did come back as a ghost for awhile; but, I never heard that Monica was dead.  The other shadowed figures were not familiar to me as I haven’t watched for a very long time.

that the three current characters were shadowing (Ethan, who is Lucky Spencer’s newly discovered son, Damien Spinelli (a really annoying character), and a new doc on the show named Ian Ewing or something like that, who no one seems to be able to connect to anyone yet) – anyway, the girl they were following is alive and well, but no one knows who she is yet.  My guess is she is a Cassadine, since the new doc said he’s her patient, but she’s been hiding out at Windemere, but the whole thing is a boring mess.

Alan Quartermain did die, and yes he has returned periodically as a ghost, but no one could see him but his sister, Tracy.  Monica is alive and is Chief of Staff at GH.  The show is in a pretty bad way right now, and I honestly would not be surprised if it’s canceled soon, too.

I watched it with my Mom back in its early days of 1963 when I was 13! I remember the two main younger characters that appealed to us younger viewers were Angie and Eddie.  Her dad, Mr. Costello, owned the Isle of Capri restaurant where all the characters would go to eat.  Good memories!

Ron Carlivatti (sp?) and his old partner, maybe from either OLTL or All My Children, who have promised to "shake things up" on GH, moving lots of characters either in or out, and putting a new direction on the show — more family oriented and not so much mob oriented.  Sounds good — just have to wait and see if they can bring this show back to life again.  I sure do hope so, cuz I do enjoy main characters on GH.
