It’s so rare to see a flashback from the 70’s! It’s just going to make me so sad when they kill off Mickey.

wasn’t a flashback for me though – that was the first time I’d seen the scence – I didn’t start watching until 1991.  I’d love to see that entire show…I know Maggie was paralyzed from what I’ve read on SP and other sites, but never sure why she was paralyzed.  Anyone want to fill me in with why?  Don’t have to go into a lot of detail but just the synopsis of the story line would be great.  Thanks!

Yeah, it was the first time for me to see it too. I’m sure they will have a lot of flashbacks when he dies.

of Mickey portrayed by John Clarke once Mickey dies.  I do remember those days well, when he and Maggie first met; Maggie was blind, and Mickey had amnesia.  I always thought Suzanne was such a beautiful girl, and she still is to this day.  It’s going to be very sad to watch, but I’m sure Suzanne Rogers will simply amaze us once again with her acting.

I remember that Maggie walked with crutches. I don’t know that she was paralyzed. I do remember she was in the hospital and my favoriet Mickey and Maggie scene was the day he bought her the red shoes. I thought they were beautiful!

I’m sad that Lucas won’t be around to help and comfort Maggie.  I thought that would have been a great storyline after all the help she has given him as her sponser.

Maggie wasn’t blind.  She couldn’t walk and used crutches.  She pretty much ran the farm with he help of a farmhand.  Mickey thought she should see a doctor to see if they could do anything to help her walk again.  Bill Horton operated on her and she discovered that Mickey had another wife, Laura.  Thinking that Mickey would stay with her if she needed him due to not being able to walk she acted like the operation didn’t work.  After Bill told Mickey there was no reason she shouldn’t be walking Mickey brought her the red dancing shoes and told her when she was able to walk he was taking her dancing.  That was her assurance he’d stay by her side.

As to why she couldn’t walk I seem to remember her parents being killed in an auto accident and she might have been with them but I’m not positive on this one.

Maggie wasn’t paralyzed but she was on crutches and couldn’t walk on her own. It was part of the Mickey amnesia plotline. I saw the show when it was current and have been following Days off and on since that time. I just started watching the last time right before John Clark retired.

as a result of her being the only survivor of the collision between a big rig and her pa’s pickup… she lost both her parents that day.  Maggie was keeping their family farm going with the help of hired hands — enter Marty Hansen (Mickey Horton) who learned how to do chores from Hank.

I don’t know why I said blind; I know damn well she wasn’t.  Must have been thinking of another actor.  Anyway, I clearly do remembe them way back when, and could never accept any actor in the role of Mickey Horton except for John Clarke.  I read they sent him a script hoping, I suppose, that he would return for the "death" scenes, but I guess he refused.  Also, Suzanne called John to inform him in advance that Mickey Horton was being killed off.  I thought that was genuinely sweet of her to do that.

Thank you everyone who explained the storyline and what happened. I guess Mickey and Maggie were one of the original supercouples!
