Just read on Daytime Royalty that Frances Reid has died.   If this is correct, my sympathy to all her family and many fans and friends.  Rest in peace, "Mrs. H".

I heard it from Nancy Lewis, a dear friend of mine who worked at Days for many years.  She sent me a note overnight – it’s 5:46 AM and I just saw it.

Very sad – but she had a very long life, and one would think, a good one.

Thoughts and prayers for Ms. Reid’s friends and family.

If I’m not mistaken, she had no family.  Her family pretty much consisted of the Days cast.

It’ll be interesting to see how they write it into the show.  And I hope they will finally do a fitting tribute to her.  Although it certainly comes too soon after the "death" of Mickey.  She WAS Days of our Lives.

I feel like my Grandmother just died.  I really hope that Days gives her the passing she deserves.  My thoughts and prayers are with her friends and family as well as all the cast and crew members who have worked and loved her for all these years.

Articles I’m seeing say her family confirmed her passing.  They don’t specify whom, but I’m sure when an obituary is posted, her survivors will be mentioned.

Actress Frances Reid attends the Reception For The 31st Annual Daytime Emmy Awards Hosted By Mayor Bloomberg at the Gracie Mansion on May 20, 2004 in New York City. (Thos Robinson, Getty Images) Soap star Frances Reid, who played the Days of Our Lives matriarch Alice Horton for 42 years, has died.

Reid passed away on February 3 at the age of 95.

The actress began her career with a small role in 1938 movie Man-Proof, before landing a string of jobs on Broadway.

She was said to have been reluctant to accept the part of Alice in Days of Our Lives after an exhausting run on another soap opera, Portia Faces Life in 1954.

But the role made her a household name after the series’ premiere in November 1965, and eventually earned her a Lifetime Achievement Award at the Daytime Emmys in 2004.

Reid made her final appearance on Days of Our Lives in December 2007.

She married actor Philip Bourneuf in 1940 and the pair remained together until his death in 1979.

even though Ms. Reid hasn’t been on the show for awhile, she was always "around", and will always be.  She was and is "Days of Our Lives".  I am so glad she had a good, long life and was loved by so many of us fans.  Francis was the grandma I always wanted to know in my life.
