First off, I loved all the Halloween sets, costumes, pranks, etc.  I thought it was fun and funny.  And I loved that Len is back though I have to say he didn’t seem to be himself.  At times, he looked like he was out of it.  Perhaps it’s just the adjustment of having missed a few weeks or maybe he’s just tired of all the gimmicks.  Granted it was a Halloween-themed show, but the show has become more gimmicky and less about proper dance.

Now for the really bad…. Michael Waltrip.  Why is he still there?  NASCAR fans are not doing him any favors.  Why does he want to be there so badly when he is such a bad dancer?  He just doesn’t have it and he is not improving.  Next week is week 8.  If he continues on, the really good dancers are going to start going home.  Does he think that’s right?  Oh ya, I forgot, it’s a popularity contest.  And the way his partner clings onto him every second is weird.

The judges gave him 8’s last week for his non-dancing routine.  I bet that, combined with his fans, kept him safe last night.  That routine last night was embarassing.  He not only didn’t dance the jive, he was walking through it and making mistakes.  Len was spot on when he questioned why Waltrip is still here in week 7.  The audience booed but he was so correct and only saying what most of us were thinking.  The judges were generous in giving him 5’s.  I would have given him a 3 at best.  I don’t know why this makes me so mad.  It’s only a show.  Guess I just like some fairness but that ain’t gonna happen.

And what was up with Mark?  Even through his zombie eyes, you could tell he was mad the entire night.  He had something up his butt.  I think the pros don’t like to hear critique.  I sure do miss the "old" Dancing days.

The judges table is too crowded with 4 judges–not everyone gets a chance to give their critique of the dances and that probably bothered Len, plus it’s probably hard to get back into the groove after being away for several weeks. But I also don’t understand why they seem to prop Michael Waltrip. You’re right; he’s not a dancer and has not improved at all but they keep praising him and telling him they know how hard he’s trying and good job, etc. But I felt like they were almost always criticizing Antonio Saboto Jr and I felt like he did more dancing than Waltrip. And Tommy Chong really isn’t that great either but he keeps on going too. But in the end, it is a popularity contest and if you have a lot of people voting for you, you continue on. Although I always think that the judges can affect the scores–at least if they would score some dancers appropriately!

but that’s what ticks me off when these bad dancers keep being saved. Antonio would not have been up there, with Sadie and Mark no less, if people like Michael were not getting the NASCAR fan votes. Shameful. The man is a stick on the dance floor. But, that’s the way it’s always been and I don’t expect it to change. That’s the problem with reality shows. It has little to do with the true talent and more to do with their popular vote. I’m glad Len didn’t hold back and let him know that he did not deserve to be there at this point.

and why are the judges praising him?? I don’t get it. I realize he comes across as a nice guy but so what. From now on if MW stays, more worthy contestants will be kicked out.
Once again I loved Alfonso. If he doesn’t take the crown something is very wrong.

Michael doesn’t have anything to say in how the fans vote so you can’t blame him for still being there. Fair?, no, but I firmly believe that’s why they pick some of these people with the huge fan base, because they know they will stay on far beyond what their talents warrant. It’s probably the enormous amount of stoners that keep voting for Tommy. It creates controversy and gets the fans talking the show and that’s what they are looking for…attention, whether good or bad. If they are talking about the show, they are getting the publicity that drives the ratings.

I agree about four being too many judges although I like getting differing opinions. I said this long ago about American Idol, that they should have two permanent judges and one guest judge each week. I think DWTS would benefit from the same arrangement.

But, will TPTB listen to us? Nope, same as they continue to use inappropriate music for the dance they are doing. Len even mentioned it, something about not getting it using 3/4 music for a waltz.

of 4 judges if they don’t all get to respond? If it’s obviously a time crunch and the show should rethink it. Really, would viewers be upset if there were only three? And do 4 judges votes rather than 3 make any difference at all?
