Real Rafe will inherit a mess when he comes back. That makes me very wary that there is not going to be a full explanation as to what happens to him and who did it to him. Although, they might have him come back secretly and he’ll be on the sidelines watching what is being done by Faux Rafe and he realizes what a mess he has to deal with to make it right. If the writers follow their usual pattern of the Dimeras inflicting horrendous pain and suffering on someone and walking away scot-free, it could be the demise of this show for good. It’s quite obvious how many viewers they’ve lost with the story line path they are on right now; so, if they brush it aside without anyone paying for what they did….I’m just saying.

If he manages to escape, maybe he will return to the safe house, not knowing why, where more and more memories will be returning while he’s there, except for who did this to him, of course. By the time he remembers Sami, the love of his life, and Stefano and/or E.J. will have already had Rafe 2 killed and disposed of, so anything real Rafe says or does to convince Sami he is Rafe will fall on deaf ears, and that’s when we’ll go into summer with the real Rafe trying to convince everyone that he is Rafe, and no one will believe him, because faux Rafe will have been eliminated and once again the DiMeras will get away with murder by proxy. God, I hope I’m wrong and Nicole finds out the truth and blows them all away.
I’m sorry but I haven’t seen EJ pay for any misdeeds. Sami has gone to prison and been on death row. Yeah she was innocent at the time and has done a lot she’s gotten away with but being on death row is the ultimate payment. Hope went to prison and was almost killed by a corrupt warden. Even Nicole went to prison for a short time BUT to say EJ has paid even partially for his misdeeds is wrong. He was shot because of his actions but he hasn’t paid anything and even though he’s caught red handed he always seems to slip his way out of it the same as daddy does.

The last we saw he had dropped it back into the bedpost. Besides, if he had been wearing it, they would have seen it when they dressed him (in the nerdy clothing) to take him to they asylum. Also, they changed him into his "scrubs" there and would have seen it then also.
No, I think the key will only come in as proof in the future that he had been held there in the Dimera Hilton.
I thought he had it in his hands looking at it when he first showed up at the asylum with that lunatic male Nurse Ratchett.
He removed it from the bedpost before they moved him from the cell. He doesn’t know what it means but he knows it’s somehthing important.
