Ok, this is the only soap I watch so I don’t know if this gripe is specific to Days or if it’s true across-the-board. Why is it that as soon as one couple breaks up, the parties immediately start something with someone else (including a former lover)? Here are the most recent examples:
- Sami loves Rafe but doesn’t see a future with him, so by default, she thinks about EJ for her future.
- Arianna and Brady break up and next thing you know, he’s interested in Nicole (again).
- Stephanie/Philip/Melanie/Nathan – I wasn’t watching for almost a year but it’s quite obvious what happened here.
Am I missing something or is everyone so desperate to always be part of a couple? How about being on your own after a break-up? (As an aside, I did hear on Ryan Seacrest’s radio show today discussion of how every woman, after a break-up needs a MOM – Moving On Man)
You forgot to mention Bo jumping right into bed with Carly, after Hope (temporially) leaves he didn’t waste no freakin time! I wonder how the writers are gonna fix this!!
many soaps over the years and sorry to say, it seems to be a soap staple! If you’d like an example: Young and Restless: Victor and Nicki break-up, move on, return to each other, break-up, move on, return, etc. They have now started to do the same thing with their younger generation of the family. I’ve always felt that Victor only wants what he doesn’t have at the moment!
Then, there’s Bold and Beautiful: Brooke and Ridge do the same thing as Victor and Nicki only in Brooke’s case, she moves on by sleeping with (and usually getting pregnant by) her daughter’s boyfriends or husbands! But she gets indignant if her daughter might be interested in her husband or latest fling. Ridge goes back and forth between Brooke and a bunch of other women too.
Ryan Seacrest needs a clue or is that so the man can feel that he didn’t cause the woman grief thus appeasing his conscience? Maybe the woman needs to spend time learning who she is and what she wants! I find it sad that some women think they are nothing if they don’t have a man in their life/bed.
Following that same thought Carly went right to Bo after she removed Lawrence from her life completely.
your last line of your post SW. So true! That’s why if they can’t pair up Rafe with Sami (and I don’t want poor, nice, sweet, kind, Rafe with Sami – she’ll cast him aside in a few months – that has always been her MO) then let Rafe be a single for a while (don’t hide him – keep him in a story line), then some day have some nice lady ( and I am meaning lady not a -itch on wheels) come into the story line and treat him good. Rafe deserves that after what he has had to put up with the past 18 months.
Nope it’s across the board. Not only is this a trend on soaps but sadly among women in the real world too. Ever hear of the transition guy? I know so many women who are in bad relationships but won’t break it off until they find a new man. Sad and insecure. I firmly believe everyone could stand a little couch time for some analysis. Where are our independant women these days?
