If this is Days’ way of “replacing” EJ, so far I don’t like it. I’m talking about the character, not the actor. To twist this young man from the original Chad to a surly, cocky, obnoxious dude doesn’t interest me at the moment. I can’t believe even Stefano would warm up to this sonnyboy.
It’s early yet and maybe Chad will slowly be redeemed, but I think Days wants him as a dark criminal type. I personally like love to hate villains but NuChad isn’t showing any of that – yet.
Geesh, don’twe have enough unlikeables in Eve and Theresa?

Chad has been nothing but a jerk. I want someone to knock him on his rear.

It takes time for a character to change that drastically. CD’s Chad was nothing like NuChad. The old Chad would never have taken that attitude with his friends, let alone his partner. I don’t even care that he dislikes Ben, but I really wanted Ben to follow his heart on this one and put Chad on the damn floor, where he belongs. What a mess he is. Billy Flynn has not proved his self in this role as a “soap” actor to me yet. I say yet, because I’m sure he’s still growing and will eventually learn the ropes, but for now I just cannot even begin to warm up to the new Chad DiMera. Right now he’s nothing more than a joke, trying to impress Stefano and E.J. enough to take him seriously. I know these writers want to keep the DiMeras at the top of the villain chain, but seriously writers, don’t you think Salem has enough of these already? Now Clyde and Jeramiah …. well, those two are scary villains if you ask me.

his veteran acting chops in this role. It would be so easy to go over the top but his creepiness is subtle enough to be very effective. And the actor seems so warm and charming in person.

I don’t mind him in the role at all (aside from his lack of height.)

I’m likely okay with it b/c he’s not a bad looking guy (pretty eyes) and we haven’t seen Casey D. in forever.  That’s probably what made me (and still makes me) have a hard time with the Will re-cast.  It was like Chandler and then BAM Guy Wilson.  I guess a recast for me is easier when they are unseen for a bit.

But I’m also okay with the change in direction for Chad – again, b/c he’s been away for a year.  A change in character, when played by the same actor, takes forever.  Remember when Kristen was good?!?  Eileen morphed Kristen in a nut job from a good woman but how long did it take?  I guess DOOL doesn’t have that kind of time especially with EJ leaving.  What they should have done was brought Chad back (good) then have him morph into something of what the character is now.

I dunno – Billy has a lot of work to do but so far Nu-Chad doesn’t bother me (especially when I think of how annoyed I am by Eve Theresa Jenn Paige Nicole & Eric LOL)

I agree with you about Chad.  If I remember right, Chad had become a bit obessed with Melaniie and attafcked Nick. This led to melanie leaving town. He then reunites with Abigail and lies about his tumor to keep her. When she finds out, she drops him. He then goes to Boston and spends time with Stefano.

I imagine that this is when he begins to change into the kind of son Stefao would approve of.  I reallt don’t find it surprising that Chad has become "full DiMera" as he has always had a mean sreak when he didn’t get his way. (Reminds me of EJ)

His main gripe with Ben is that he is with Abigail. Also that is his complaint about EJ.  However, he left Abigail to be with Melanie so I feel she is free to do as you chooses.

He really is playing up the bad guy! He is letting the "DiMera" power of to his head.

although Friday was his best performance yet. I wish I could be a fan of Billy Flynn, but I just can’t help feeling he’s over-acting the NEW DiMera bad boy so far. He’s just trying too hard to prove he’s this big, bad bada$$, and all because of what…..ABIGAIL???? Please, she’d just not worth the trouble, IMO. Her and Ben are THE perfect couple …. two snooze-fests!!! Maybe when Molly returns next month, I’ll change my opinion of Nu-Chad, but right now he just reminds me of the bully who’s playing the game of “my pop’s bigger than your pop.” Good luck with that!

We learned PRETTY means nothing (Austin Peck I’m looking at you LOL)

He is a bit over the top – but I think that’s b/c he’s a newbie actor.  My point was the absence makes me accept this NEW Chad (the character change and the actor) b/c he’s been M.I.A. for so long…

Side note – I still do not like Guy Wilson as Will.  I dunno – it’s been a while but I still can’t wrap my head around him as Will.

on the Will thing. I don’t like him at all. His interaction with Sonny leaves me cold because there’s no chemistry there at all. In other areas, I have no interest in him whatsoever. I think Chandler ruined it for us to accept anyone else in the role.

that Guy’s portrayal notably lacks. He comes across as rather cool and distant to me, at times robotic, and even during his “happier” moments I feel a lack of warmth. He’s just okay for my liking, nothing terrible but nothing spectacular.

That’s exactly how I see Guy’s portrayal of Will Horton. I can take him or leave him.

    For doing this to us!!!

I hate saying this a gay man but I have ZERO interest in Sonny/Will.  As a matter of fact that shower scene left me cold (put intended.)  They are so blah!!!  How sad is it that I rather see Sonny than Will?!?  At this point I wouldn’t mind Will going "upstairs" above the Brady Pub if you know what I mean LOL

I so agree. I didn’t like this Will at first and I still don’t. I tried to give him time to settle in, but he has nowhere near the emotional range of Chandler. He is monotone and almost lifeless.
