So Melanie & Nathan have the same grandma?  I guess that rules out any future of these two together, even if Nathan isn’t biologically Maggie’s, right?  I hope so anyway, and I was kind of hoping they’d bring him back.

They had Max dating his niece (Chelsea) even though they weren’t blood related.

I think Max was also dating Stephanie  wern’t they sort of related? blood or not I think it’s wrong for writers to hook up couple’s that are related in any form.   COME ON widen their dating pool !!! geesh lousie!

is why Daniel is so adamant about not being Maggie’s son?  I can understand surprise but he just keeps vehemently denying it as being impossible.  I would think he would probably have thoughts of "how can this be?" but coming right out, over and over, saying no, she isn’t my mother, is just plain insulting and hurtful to Maggie.  Daniel is a person who would go out of his way to not hurt someone so this is just not in his character at all.  Something is going on here.

unless his anger is really directed at his parents for never fessing up?

like it would be a betrayal to his parents if he accepted Maggie as his mother. I tried to put myself in his shoes yesterday and realized that I might react the same way. Hearing that your mother is not who you thought she was after so many years would be extremely shocking and upsetting–at least to me.

For 40 or so years now, Daniel has believed his mother to be Lillian Parker, and someone comes up to him at a halloween party in a public town square and declares that she has reason to believe that SHE is his mother.  Then he asks Victor, who has been like a second father to him all these years, and he agrees that he believes it is true.  Daniel was crushed and obviously in denial.  Who wouldn’t be?  I know I would.

I agree with you bluebonnet. this is a shock to daniel who had nno clue that this wa possible. He had a great reationship with his parents and so it is inconceivable that this could be true.

But another thought comes to mind

what makes a mother?  Is your mother the person who provided the egg or the person who raised you, held you when you were scared, took care of you when you were sick, encouraged you when you were down, taught you to be all that you are? Daniel has all these memories of his MOTHER-the woman who raised him and loved him. It would seem wrong for him to throw her aside for a acquaintance.

While it is interesting for Maggie to discover this, it is a huge step to say "I am your mother" to someone who had a happy childhood and a loving mother.  I totally understand Daniel’s reaction.

her constant insistence about being Daniel’s mother.  She was rather pathetic in my mind and it really did put a lot of pressure on Daniel who had no clue about any of this and then to be confronted at a Halloween party!?  He gets blind-sided by all of these people just staring at him and Maggie’s begging and then he’s just supposed to smile and say, "Wow!  Hi Mom!"…I don’t think so.  I don’t mean any offense in my description of Maggie.  It’s just how I interpreted the scene.  Then, Melanie needs to learn when to shut her mouth…that character is really not my cup of tea.

I can’t imagine getting so emotional over an egg that someone else fertilized, grew, and gave birth to.  I don’t think I’d have any emotional attachment to it whatsoever.  In fact, I don’t think I’d even care if someone else had used my egg and I certainly wouldn’t go looking for some child that I never even knew.  After all, an egg is just a cell that women flush down the toilet every month.  There sure isn’t much of any concern about them.

And I definitely think that the woman who raised you is your mother.  Yes, you have the genes of the other woman but what I guess it all comes down to is what is the definition of a mother?  Merriam-Webster defines a mother as: a female parent.  And defines a parent as (a) one who begets or brings forth an offspring, and, (b) a person who brings up and cares for another.  So…you decide.

were like oil and water all of our lives, she raised me and was my Mother….for someone to come up and say no, this person is your mother, I’d be saying "No" too.  The writers are just over dramatizing Maggies "motherhood".  Maybe a shock to her that she has a grown son that she never knew about, she has no "Mother" claims on Daniel…perhaps later on when they develop a relationship (you know it’s "when" not "if"), then Maggie can have her maternal feelings.  What she is doing now would be like me finding out my little, young contractor is my son after 33 years…nice kid, but do I feel motherly towards him in that case instantly?  No.

Being adopted myself, I understand the loyalty you feel to the parents that raised you whether or not they are biological.   I find Daniel’s reaction totally natural.  They blindsided him at a time when he is already uncertain about his feelings.  The whole Jennifer/Jack thing and now this.  I feel Maggie is being unfair to him and should back off.  Melanie should also tone it down, she never knew Daniel’s mother but maybe now would be a good time to ask him to tell her about the woman rather than just push Maggie on him because it’s what she wants to be true.

I wonder how Lucas will react to Daniel being his, what would it be, cousin?  I know it’s by marriage, but still…
