Participantwhen I watch one of those old prime-time soaps and see someone recognizeable from a current soap, realizing this is where they got their start. So young back them, and seeing them now still in soaps just blows my mind.

Participantabsolutely breathtaking. Thank you, Bon, for sharing them with us.

ParticipantI’ve really been enjoying the old AMC and OLTL shows, which they have been showing since before they were taken off the air. I’ll also miss One Tree Hill, which I love watching the old re-runs. The show just wrapped up it’s final season of regular programmming. I guess it’s a mixed bag of emotions, but for me, with no small children in the house, I would prefer to keep SoapNet.
By the way, today is April 8, 2012, and I’m still getting SoapNet, so they must be switching to Disney, Jr. and removing SoapNet as Disney contracts with various cable companies, etc., in various states are completed. But for now, I have Comcast and we are still getting SoapNet here in Maryland.

ParticipantI think it’s just "sour grapes" being spouted because they were fired. Some of their early work was refreshing, but then when they had to begin new story lines and got a little more into a character’s history, they just did not have the talent to make it interesting, and the more they ruined the characters’ histories, the more it proved that they were not the writers for DOOL, causing them to be fired. These people were scathed on every board I’ve read where their writing was concerned. EVERYONE can’t be wrong. They ruined too many characters and angered too many fans … fans who KNOW it’s characters and their histories. Also, they never were HEAD-writers, so Corday took a shot because of all the flack he received when Higley was in charge, so I suppose he at least was listening to the fans in that respect. I remember reading his interview article stating when Higley was fired and Mar-Dar were introduced. He said, in so many words, that the fans were important and that he had every intention of listening to what they wanted. Well, you couldn’t prove it by me with those 2 writers. Now we have two experienced head writers. Granted, both were let go but at the time Tomlin was CEP, which I suppose was a promotion from head-writer, so hopefully, now that they are working as a team of "head" writers, they will be able to take the show in the direction it needs to go to improve. At least that’s what I’m hoping to see; otherwise, we may as well start finding something new, since 2013 (the END OF DAYS???) is just around the corner.

Participantand reposted it on the Annex board after I realized my mistake.

These are ALL children’s networks, and many of them are pre-school and early learning networks that stay on most of, if not all day/night. Then the local stations (abc, cbs and nbc) show children’s programming throughout the weekends, during the morning/late afternoon before regular programming begins. How many children’s networks does a child need to watch? SoapNet was the one place a soap fan could go if they missed the show, were busy with other things or, in many instances, did not have a DVR box with their cable, which is an additional cost to the subscriber, as well as the fact that, as SW mentioned, that most children are not up during the evening hours and watch their programming during the day or after school. JMHO!

Participantif she knew everything there was to know about her DIL and her forbidden love for Rafe. If she does, I’d take care accepting that dinner invitation. Austin is such a boob, and Carrie could not be made to look any worse this time around if the writers tried. I really do not understand how Kate can be so strung out on keeping Sami away from Lucas, while once again putting herself all up in Billie’s business and blatently trying to push her toward Bo, and yet Carrie’s cheating with Rafe and Austin’s behavior leading him to believe he had a tryst with Abbey was never mentioned by Kate. Kate would never, ever, not in a million lifetimes, have let that situation slide. But, when I think about it, she probably wouldn’t see it as much as hurting Austin as a way of hurting Sami, since E.J. has forbidden her to take any action against Sami. No, seems they (tptb) just intentionally ruined this once loved couple, and for me at least the writers were successful in that endeavor.

Participantthe 80’s seemed to be a hard era for their performances. I actually hated the choices Elise and Philip made last night. Can Philip sing without that damn guitar in front of him? I don’t think so. And Elise is becoming just another one-trick pony for me. I thought the judges were unfair to Hollie last night. I liked her a lot, and they just seem not to. It is so obvious that they are mesmerized by Joshua and Jennifer. But, Colton could very well sneak in there in that dark horse position, especially with the young voting America. I just think he’s very talented, and although he doesn’t look like an Adam Lambert, he certainly has the talent to make every song his own, even though he admitted that the arrangement he did last night was someone else’s with a few of his own changes thrown in. Not too many guys can do as well with a song made popular by a female, but he did a great job with Cindy Lauper’s. Aside from those three, any of the others could wind up in the bottom three tonight. Although, I will admit, someone must be whispering in Skylar’s ear, because she was very subdued last night compared to her wild hopping and screaming. I actually liked her last night.

Participantwe need to remember that we will not see T&W’s work until early July, since the show is 3 months ahead, which is not very smart IMO because then if the story lines go in a new direction, there has to be a lot of tweaking and noticeable changes written into current stories, or they have to move too quickly to become invested in them, which makes the writers appear inadequate as opposed to the stories themselves. T&W are both experienced writers, so they should know how to properly tweak a story line without making it ridiculous (radically changed or even dropped completely) which just makes everyone crazy, especially us. We also should realize that when new writers come on board, they, like us, have their own favorites that they like to write for, even though it has always been my desire to see well-balanced writing as opposed to playing favorites to some while neglecting others (too much Sami, Sami, Sami and E.J./Rafe/Ari, etc., as compared to not enough Justin, Sonny, Adrienne, Victor and Maggie, and Jack and Jen). I would prefer a little more balance or why even cast them if they aren’t being used more. Just too large a cast, maybe, but either balance out the writing or cut down on the cast (Starting with Gabi for me …. LOL)
Patti
Participantmainly because it comes and goes with every other sentence. LOL!
Patti
Participantbecause of Twitter remarks from some of the cast, like GG stating something to the effect of "big shakeup coming," but Tomlin and Whitesell are not new to DOOL, so I just hope their changes are going to be for the better. It certainly couldn’t get much worse (could it?), and Tomlin was co-executive producer before he was fired, so that scares me a little. I mean, it’s a little surprising to me that KC would hire him back as co-headwriter with Whitesell after firing him as CEP. But I’m keeping my fingers crossed anyway that things do settle down, characters are put back where they belong, and we can watch the show without having more criticism than praise. It’s been a long time folks!

Participantand they were the first to be eliminated. Poor guy …. can’t catch a break with his partners. Martina may be a tennis great, but she danced like she was made of wood, and poor Tony did his best, but it just wasn’t good enough to save Martina from that terrible tag of being the "first" to go.

Participantwhen Rafe told her he wanted a divorce. She actually beamed when he knocked on the door and said they should talk. When he left telling her to get a lawyer, she broke down. Today she’s telling Lucas she still has feelings for him. I love Lucas, but if he falls for this he is being made the fool. She already underhandedly canceled his flight home, which should remind him she stops at nothing to get her way. It’s obvious to me that the only reason she’s determined to hold onto Lucas is because he is the only person who cares enough to defend her right now. Of course, she’ll probably soon have the same effect on E.J., at least until this baby situation is revealed. Sami is like a sponge in that she soaks up every man she comes in contact with. Look, right now she has 3 men in her orbit. She definitely has Lucas, who I’m sure can’t even see the real reason behind Sami’s sudden desire for him; she will undoubtedly get mixed up with E.J. once again, since he got her an apartment which I’m quite sure he’ll feel he will be able to come and go as he pleases, because the kids will be living there WITHOUT RAFE; and then there’s Rafe, who will probably begin looking at things differently once he believes Carrie and Austin have decided to work things out. I mean, seriously, how many men does this woman need in her life at one time? I still have a feeling that Rafe will be her end game, although it’s never "the end" with Sami, is it?
Patti
Participantbut I thought he was better than Gavin, and I loved him on B&B (The Bold and the Beautiful). Now, maybe he can return to GH (General Hospital).
