summer always proves to be slow, and that’s on all soaps. Fall, naturally starts slow and then builds to November sweeps, as I think it’s doing right now. I don’t know how many other boards anyone else reads, but I read boards on 3 soaps, Y&R, DOOL and GH (don’t watch B&B — never did); but I can honestly tell everyone that they are the same on all of them. People think stories last too long, too much wash, rinse and repeat, in other words, the same complaints for all. Right now I’m seeing a greater pick-up from the fans of GH, which I watch and will admit is getting better; however, there are storylines on all soaps that have the same complaints.
DOOL is beginning to get interesting for me, now that summer is over and certain storylines are coming to a head, certain cast members are either moving on or being replaced, and new storylines are in the works. Some of the upcoming storylines will be very exciting, but, like all soaps, will never be able to please everyone.
I’m looking forward to Rafe and Jordan getting closer (slowly, but surely), and Kate’s reaction to it. I think Nick is going to go off the wall very soon, and with some of the young (and some not so young) stars leaving, there will be a huge November sweeps that will only be able to be compared to the DAYSaster. Hang in there, friends. Better DAYS are coming.
The one thing I do find bad about DOOL is their 4-month ahead schedule. No other soap does that, and it’s very difficult to make changes when the writing is that far ahead. I know it’s due to budget, but c’mon, no other soap’s writing schedule is that far ahead. Maybe that’s what’s causing these stars to “burn out.” Sometimes they have to memorize 70 or 80 pages of script at a time in order to keep up with the taping schedules. I don’t know if that’s NBC or SONY or Corday, but that needs to be addressed by someone.
Other than that, I’m enjoying the show still, and look forward to the action getting stronger and better each week going into October, and exploding during November sweeps and, hopefully, beyond with the holidays. It’s not like prime-time; it’s a soap opera, so I don’t expect it to be good every day.
she is a “do as I say, not as I do” type of woman. The catching Theresa from stealing money from the ‘discretionary’ fund, though, was totally within her right, especially since that brazen young woman had the audacity to forge Jennifer’s signature on the papers. For that Theresa should land in jail. As for Anne Millbauer, I still, for the life of me, cannot figure out that woman’s purpose on this show, and wish they would either give her a backstory or cut her loose.
poor Doc …. I can’t even imagine watching that video of Marlena’s most hated enemy with her beautiful son, THE PRIEST! Well, from what I know, Kristen’s going out “with a bang” during November sweeps. If I’m lucky she’ll take Stefano along with her. I’ve seen enough of those two to know when I have seen enough!!!
and threw it in the trash. Wonder what she’s going to do when Roman comes to pick her up. Of course, now she’s going to throw in with Anne Millbauer and between the two of them, I’m sure they’ll find a way to throw the screws to both Jen and Daniel. We also must assume that Theresa’s going to stay in Salem for a while (maybe she’ll wind up staying with Anne) since we already know Kimberly and Shane will be coming to town to deal with her soon.
I like Jen Lilly’s acting in this role, but the character of Theresa is more annoying than even JJ to me. As for JJ, I’m betting he winds up back in jail and Daniel will “be there for him.” Ugh!.. That kid’s not finished with Dan yet; and, in all probability, neither is Theresa. I’m just so fed with all the angst Jennifer and Daniel have to go through because of these two. Neither Theresa nor JJ are even the least bit entertaining to me, along with the other two delinquent friends of JJ’s. Can’t wait for this storyline to be over, done with, GONE!!!
is that it gives the Brady clan a chance to come together as a family, none of whom seem to be snowed by Theresa’s “give me one more chance and I’ll be good” b/s. As for JJ, I pretty much am sure he’ll soon be on the road to redemption, and the good doctor will refuse to press charges on him because of his undying love for Jennifer. Then, JJ will have no recourse but to fall at Daniel’s feet in resplendent appreciativeness. So predictable!!!
I did get a kick out of one thing yesterday, and that is Roman telling Theresa she was on a 8 o’clock flight back to L.A., then saying “I’ll pick you up at 8:00.” Not much time to get to the airport, through boarding, etc., now does it Roman?
but Daniel apparently plans on taking Parker to visit with her from time to time. I don’t think Nadia will return, unless it’s much further down the road, time-wise.
It does sadden me a little to realize that the only reason they did bring Chloe back was to prop Daniel and Jennifer. I just can’t believe how many cast members do that these days. Chloe did seem a bit apprehensive of sending Parker back into their on again/off again; in/out romance, but Daniel has proven, at least to me, that his number one priority is Parker.
Chloe’s wardrobe was certainly apropo where Chloe is concerned. I’m sure we can count on one hand the times we’ve seen her in casual wear.
I will be so glad when Daniel catches up with JJ tomorrow, and he won’t be able to talk his way out of it once the super told Daniel that his daughter had dark hair under her towel, after he had already found the broken picture. Also, I know some like him, but Rory is a brainless idiot, who I can tolerate just as much as I can JJ. So, the sooner they get rid of him, the better, ASAIC!
since Days and Y&R cross shows with their air-time; however, I agree with you that they did a beautiful tribute to Jeanne Cooper, i.e., the great Mrs. “C”.
I totally agree. Seems like every season now we have to have either a Disney kid, or a Nick kid, and now a Glee contestant, although she isn’t a kid — I believe she said she’s twenty-something, but was chosen because she looks like a high-schooler. Either way, there’s no way the older contestants can compete with these young kids. Seems sort of unfair to me.
since she’s only here for 2 epis and then gone. If she’s still in rehab or whatever, I suspect she will leave Parker with Daniel, and we’ll never hear from her again unless or until the writers decide to bring her back.
his name is Alex; he’s 22 years old, and he leads sort of a transient scruffy punker lifestyle. They share John Anniston as their father, but his mother is an Australian actress named Sherry Rooney. Just because she never talks about him doesn’t mean she’s ashamed of him. I don’t think that’s the conclusion I would jump to, and since I read he’s close to both of his parents, I think his lifestyle is his choice, and perhaps there’s no jealousy involved at all.
are these kids’ ages with Emmys on their mantles. You should google stars who started in soaps. You’d be surprised at just how many are on the list, and still major stars today, and still working today, but got their start in soaps. Do you really believe these kids, with their looks and their talent are going to worry at this point in their careers that they will wind up unemployed? You’re kidding me, right?
so when he’s ready, I don’t think he’ll have too much trouble finding work. There are quite a lot of stars out there right now that got their start on soaps.
all three of these actors (CD, CB and NO) have finished taping, but we will see CD and NO on screen until the day of, or the day before, Halloween. No final air date has been announced for CB as far as I know about, but she has already confirmed through her twitter account and some other sites that she is finished. No exit storyline as far as I know yet. Somehow I have a feeling it may involve Nick, but that’s JMO.
