Thinking that Mia is Carly’s daughter seems too easy. I wondered if maybe Nicholas is a daddy already and Carly is looking for a grandchild instead of a son/daughter. But we’re short on children in the story line… at least at the moment anyway. Carly meeting Mia at the dock just seemed too contrived… but, maybe Vivian knows more than we think she knows. Does ole’ Viv want to ‘off’ Carly again so Carly won’t realize that … speculation here… maybe…. the Lawrence who died wasn’t the real Lawrence ??
Looking forward to Caroline’s jealousy when she sees Vivian flirt with Victor. Whooo hoo!
I posted a long time ago on the old board that I felt it was going to be "Melanie" since they never mentioned her "mother" and she grew up in Europe. She’s older too – not by much but this is Days. lol I don’t even remember Nicholas being mentioned by Carly since her or Viviane’s return. I’m wondering if the writers realized that they have totally messed up with aging him way back so that it wouldn’t make sense now. If you weren’t watching when he came back on (having been SORASed to an almost 30 year old), he had an affair with Kate. If he was 30 then, about 20 years ago (given Days’ comments of late), then poor Carly would be almost 70 now! lol Of course, they could just forget about it and do what they did with Philip and EJ- forget they should be a teenager (Phil) and I think, younger than Will for EJ.
I love your idea of Lawrence not being the real one when she killed him. That would make a great twist. It’s amazing how many creative minds are on this board. Maybe Days’ heads should be looking here for story ideas.
Hope I’m in the right spot to reply to this post. My thoughts are that it is Melanie and not Mia. But, here’s my speculation: Somewhere I remember hearing or possibly reading that Carly was at some medical convention in Europe when she had an affair. The child she is seeking is hers and whoever she had the affair with, and Lawrence knows that and tried to keep her from the child. When he discovered she was looking for her child, their marriage went south; soooooo, my thoughts are maybe, just maybe, (and think about this) Carly, medical convention, Europe, affair, child shows up in Salem. I know, I’m all over the place here; but, I think Melanie is Carly’s daughter with….are you ready…..Dr. Daniel Jonas. Didn’t Victor send for him when Bo and Chelsea had the famous pancreatic transplant; and did he live in Europe? Lots to digest here, and, admittedly, I can’t figure out how Trent got into Melanie’s life, since she goes by Layton. Confused more than ever now??? Me, too, but I think Carly’s kid is Melanie, and maybe, just maybe, her father is Daniel.
A spoiler had been posted on the Annex before I moved it/shut it down. Apparently you won’t have to wait long to find out.

Daniel as the father. I suppose it is possible but weird. How would Trent have gotten her then? Scary!
Daniel suddenly having a child could play into the whole infertility issue that he and Chloe will be dealing with. They never mentioned Melanie’s mother, but did they ever say who Max’s mother was?
That was a long time ago, I remember Frankie found him and was protecting him and brought him to the Brady’s where he was adopted. Frankie is Carly’s brother though. So that would make another connection between Carly and Melanie if Trent really was her father. The way he treated Melanie was never ‘father-like’ though. Melanie is in her 20s but how old is Daniel? Chloe is the same age as Philip but… Phil was aged and we really don’t know how old he is now.
You know Lawrence is unscrupulous. I wouldn’t be surprised if he took the baby away from Carly and sold her. Let’s face it, Trent was using Melanie to prostitute around in order to pay off debts. He could just have taken her at a young age and decided that she would be his gambling ticket if he could pimp her out to those he owed money to. Of course, now I’m over-thinking this and the writers aren’t that clever. BTW, I do like the idea of Dr. Dan involved in this storyline. It would make for something different to deal with on the show. Have Dan and Carly seen each other yet?
Melanie celebrated her 18th birthday on DOOL several months ago. Before that, she was jail-bait. Philip, Shawn D, Belle & Mimi graduated from Salem High in 2002. They should all be in their mid-twenties now. Brady Black was just a few years older than his half-sister, Belle.
