began last night for the Ravens in the Hall of Fame Game against the Chicago Bears, which the Ravens managed to hold onto for the win, 17-16.  For what is obviously a close look at the new talent being addressed on all teams, the preseason did not disappoint for our Ravens; EXCEPT for me.  No starters meant sit back, relax, and watch what your team has in store for you this season in the NFL.  Perriman still needs a lot of improvement to make the team, IMO, and as for RJ, I thought he looked a lot better than expected; however, our newly drafted Heisman Trophy winner, Lamar Jackson needs to sit down and WATCH AND LEARN before I put any faith in his performance as a back-up to Joe Flacco.  Fingers crossed Joe stays healthy this season, because he did perform well in training camp.  I think if it were up to Joe Cool, RJ would be his back-up as oppossed to Jackson, but as in every season, we shall see how it all pans out when the real games begin next month.

One thing I do think the league will be taking a very close look at this year is this new hitting with the helmut rule.  If they don’t lay some proper ground rules at what is and what is not a legal hit, I see way too many penalties and delays, taking away from the enjoyment of watching the NFL games this season.  They have at least a month to watch closely and decide what is a "head-down overly aggressive" tackle and what is simply a good take-down, which will in many cases will include the helmut being involved in the contact.

you’d comment on the helmet rule. This will be a major pain as it goes against what players have been taught all their lives. You know resulting penalties will result in controversy and slow down the game.
Meanwhile I think once LJ gets used to NFL play he’ll be a force.
We’ve got a date opening day next month!

RG3 looked good as a backup.  I agree with drafted QBs getting put in too early as it’s the most difficult position on the field.  In Flacco, Jackson has someone to watch closely and learn from.  It’s not like Baltimore has had a string of slouch QBs (e.g. Cleveland) and need to rush him into playing.  The more you learn, the less likely you are to get injured by doing something stupid.

Can’t wait to see how the Jags look this Thursday.  There’s been some jawing by Malik Jackson about us going 16-0.  Wish he’d keep his piehole shut and just play.  Blake had a very good postseason and hopefully that will continue.  DUUUUUVALLLL!

And of course I hope Aaron can stay healthy so the Pack can have a great year.  Still SMH over not signing Jordy for at least another year. GO PACK, GO!

My worst nightmare would be the Pack vs Jags in the Super Bowl.  Talk about being torn!

while watching the Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony Saturday night, although I will always enjoy listening to the "Preacher Man," more commonly known to people in Charm City as Ray Lewis, I truly enjoyed listening to the Pack’s Jerry Kramer.  Class Act, for sure!  Everyone inducted was a class act, well, perhaps with the exception of Terrell Owens, who refused to appear and instead appeared at Chattanooga-Tennessee College, and as much as he tried to disguise his reasoning, it still appeared, to me anyway, that he thought he was waaay better than he was given credit for.  Anyway, shame on him, and I’m betting one day he’ll regret his decision.  As for Ray Lewis, and God knows, I love that man, but I think he got the nod that a 33 minute speech was long enough, and everyone got the message.  They bearly had time to sign off of the program.  But, if the man proved anything, it was that he can talk the talk as well as walk the walk.  LOL!

first class jerk. I do concede he was fine – checking his ego for the most part – during his short stint with the Bills, but his arrogance is off the chart. And what was that about wanting to play FB again w/ Canadian or American FB league? He just will do anything to keep his “royal” name out there!

Everyone did their job and the maximum effort showed with a 33-7 win over the Rams, who I know will be better when their regular season begins.  All 3 of our QB’s played well.  I was equally impressed with our offensive line and how well the Defense took care of the Rams, all without injury to anyone.  Still waiting to see how they resolve the helmut rule when regular season starts, but from what I saw Thursday night, I am extremely hopeful once again with the improvement made to the team, as well as the play-calling on offense and defense.  Seems we’re loaded with talent this season, and even better, Joe Cool, RG and Lamar ALL have a boatload of talented receivers this season.  So far I’m a happy camper with our Ravens!

though if you look at preseason stats they are no reliable indication of season performance. My Bills also showed well despite a loss to Carolina – all 3 QBs played well. Even Josh Allen looked not bad and his rocket launcher arm is jaw dropping. If he can harness that raw talent could be a force.
