Soap Opera Digest comment: Ken Corday confirmed that Maggie will be the new matriarch of the show. He said there’s more for her to play now with Mickey’s passing. "Plus, with Lucas and Nathan in town. The Hortons are not gone. I think we’re going to see a whole new branch on that tree." Well, didn’t we hear that Lucas was let go? Why is he talking like Lucas is still on the show or are we going to have to think he’s still there but he really isn’t?? Wonder who the new branch of Hortons will be? His death is supposed to be part of Hope and Bo getting back together again (or that is what it sounded like).
Also, if anyone is interested, it contains the information on Mickey’s passing.
What about Will? Since there’s going to be a "new" Will – they may give him a more in depth story line. He’s a Horton isn’t he, since Lucas took the Horton name? And then there’s Allie, perhaps – they will "age" her as well as they have done so many times before…
As far as Mr. Corday’s comment on Lucas – since I haven’t seen the article you mentioned, I’m speculating that perhaps he made the comment prior to dismissing Byran. Also, they have brought back many character’s over the years – they do have a few more Horton’s stashed away still. Laura (Horton by marriage) – escapes from the mental hospital…Bill comes back from Africa…Mike comes back from Africa (and hopefully brings Carrie with him)…Jeremy returns…hmmmmmm? It all could happen.
I just can’t consider Lucas a Horton. I don’t care how they rewrite history. If they want to continue the Horton line, bring back some real Hortons, not a retro Horton or one by marriage.
I just always liked Mike. I thought that Carrie and Mike were a much better couple than Austin, who was too much of a wimpazoid, (inspite of his prizefighting) IMHO…
I liked the original Austin (Patrick Muldoon). I hated the replacement. Patrick’s Austin had more class – playing the piano, in grad school, etc. I also felt that he had more chemistry with Christie Clarke than his replacement who seemed to go better with Ali S.’s Sami. He also fell for every trick Sami pulled but expected Carrie to support him constantly. Sorry but she deserved better than playing second place to Sami. When Mike came on there was just some fantastic chemistry with Carrie but unfortunately it got dumped by the new writers.
You hit the nail on the head – he did fall for every trick and was most of the time clueless (more than Bo is right now).
Maybe Jack, Jennifer, Abby and Jack Jr. will be back too?? I always liked those characters. Jack brought humor into the show, which they desperately need! We’ve gotten some of it back with Vivian’s return, but having Jack back would be great!
Melissa Reeve’s husband is back in LA doing General Hospital so I am guessing that she and the kids would return too. So, if she’s back in CA, why not see if she’d like to do the show again. I don’t think Matt Ashford ever left CA. So who knows!
Surely the writers couldn’t be stupid enough to recast Bryan. He’s one of the most popular actors on the show and tons of people are upset about his firing.
Bonbon how could you say the writers rewrote history with Lucas being a Horton. When he came on the scene he was only known as Kate’s son. We found out later that Kate had an affair with Bill. So how can that be rewriting history. Rewriting is erasing people’s personality like Sami now and EJ when STefano was in the coma. Or acting like the rape never happened, by never talking about it when it was a big part of the show for all of 2007.
