I know I can research this, but it’s easier to ask the pros. When Anna was married to Roman, was it Wayne Northrop Roman or Josh Taylor Roman? I can’t even remember her being married to him and when Carrie came home and started talking about her Mom (Anna) and what she did to Sami I was totally confused. I really just remember Anna and Tony. What brought Anna to the show in the first place?
Roman was already with Marlena when Carrie showed up at his door, she was probably around 5 or 6 and said he was her daddy. Then Anna came and the backstory was that they were married and Anna died in a boating accident. Aparently she had been sold into white slavery but she was pregnant with Carrie at the time.
Carrie was just shy of 5 as Anna supposedly sent her back to Roman to go to school. Anna and Roman had gone on a boating trip to celebrate her being pregnant with Carrie. The boat tipped and Roman thought Anna and the child she was carrying had died but it was all faked by Anna. When she came back, she first claimed to have been picked up by a yacht and she was kept in a white slavery ring but it came out that Anna was a party girl. She didn’t want to spend her life married to a cop keeping house for him. She wanted the rich/good life. Stefano was involved in the yacht and she worked for him to bring down Roman. Her whole return to Salem was Stefano dictated to ruin Roman. Anna was diagnosed with an illness and decided to let Roman take care of Carrie. At one time she had been hypnotizing Carrie to do her bidding. Marlena fell for Carrie and she and Roman planned a life together once he divorced Anna. Anna met Tony through Stefano and they fell in love and hooked up several times. Anna finally got the rich life she wanted.
Carrie talking about what Anna did to Sami had to do with the kidnapping of Sydney. Sami and Eric weren’t born to Marlena and Roman until Carrie was like 12.
Wayne Northrup and Josh taylor played Chris Kosichek. I don’t think he became Roman until about 10 years ago
Roman, Fauxman! He’s not the real deal! If you ever have the chance to see old scenes from Josh as Chris and Wayne as Roman, you’d see that Josh’s speech hasn’t changed at all from when he was Chris. "What da H*ll!" was a Chris expression for just one, Roman never said that!
Billies, Bos and Romans, Phillips – let’s see who else had a doppleganger or double over the years…I can’t remember.
She played herself and Hattie at one point when her twin wasn’t doing the role. There have been tons of Mikes, a couple of Hopes including when she played Princess Gina, Will, Jennifer, and there was the Bonnie/Adrienne doubles.
And Jennifer also had a replacement for awhile when she abruptly left ater her and Jason’s little affair. Kate has been played by two. Shawn D., Mickey, and Bill have been played by others.
It might be a shorter list if we name those who have only been played by ONE actor.
Carrie – When she moved out on her own and Austin was living down the hall from her was portrayed by Tracy Middendorf for a short time then Christy Clark came back
Austin – Started out with Patrick Muldoon playing him

Marie Horton – Portrayed by Lanna Saunders for a short while when she came back in full nun habit and it was discovered that Jessica was her daughter Was also portrayed by another actress for a short time between Maree Cheatham and Lanna
Julie – Teenage Julie
Kate – Started out by Deborah Adair
Brady – Several actors
Arianna – 2 different actresses
Kimberly – Was replaced for a while then Patsy came back
Lexie has been played by several actresses before Renee Jones
Jack Devareauz -Several actors including Mark Valley and Steve Wilder but Matthew Ashford will always be Jack to me
Kayla – was played by a different actress when she was first introduced
Shawn Brady (Grandpa Brady)
Someone mentined that Josh Taylor is now Roman but use to be Chris Kositcheck. How about Wayne Northrop returning as Alex Marshall.
I can handle the change in actors if they keep the character consistent as they did with Grandpa Brady, it’s when they change the character’s personality completely with the actor change that I have a problem. When Mickey was played by John Ingle his character was NOT the Mickey Horton everybody loved. Same with Carrie, when she was played by Tracy Middendorf she was conniving and did anything she could to get Austin’s attention. Belle, when they changed actors she wasn’t sweet innocent, "I’ll be friends with anybody and I won’t lie" Belle and I never really got into the last actress. Stephanie Johnson to me was more independent and straightforward and likeable as the redheaded racecar driver.
Other characters when they change the actor I don’t notice at all but it could be that I’m not as invested in the character that much.
I can’t remember if it’s Jack or Mike that have had the most recasts… both have had a ton.
Matt Ashford is the most popular Jack, but Mark Valley played him for a while. Like the actor but he didn’t fit into the character, IMO.
I think there’s a toss up between Roark’s Mike and Michael T. Weiss’ interpretation.
According to Wikipedia (FWIW). Mike has been the most recast.
