I kept waiting and waiting and waitng for her to say it. I was praying for her to say it. But NO. When St. Carrie asked her how she got the nerve to leave Roman for John, yes Marlena said their situations were not analagous but DID SHE EVER ONCE SAY..John wasn’t my sister’s husband? NOOOO. And we all wonder why Sami feels the way she does about Marlena and Carrie.
and before I start hearing from the "Sami screwed up her marriage with Rafe and is getting what she deserves" crowd I reiterate from another post…Carrie and Rafe started all this BEFORE they knew about Sami’s indiscretion with EJ and before Abby’s perfectly timed infatuation with Austin. And either way, Marlena the shrink’s answer should have been to be sure Sami and Rafe were definitely over each other before jumping into the sack with YOUR SISTER’S HUSBAND (NOT YET EX-HUSBAND, STILL HUSBAND.) But no, instead she tells Carrie the only thing that is important is how YOU feel. Not a mention of Sami, her biological daughter, and how this may affect the sisters already fragile relationship. Nope, just do what you feel is right St. Carrie. BLECCHHHHHHH. Marlena is a huge disappointment and I can see why Sami feels about her as she does.

She has always been the "black sheep" in Marlena’s life, and claim as she may that she loves Sami, she has never proven it to me, especially when she compares her to Carrie. I have no respect for Carrie whatsoever. I do at least have a little for Sami.
Count me in on agreeing 100% on this obviously she favors carrie above her own daughter. She’s proven that over and over. Heck she loves her grandchildren more tha she loves Sami. I have 0 respect for carrie and don’t feel the wee bit sorry for her, hell I feel more sorry for ej than I so Carrie! LOL. And that’s not too much.
Oh yeah, one more point, she should have reminded carrie HELLO YOU ARE STILL MARRIED to Austin! but oh yes go hunt down your sisters husband and profess your undying love for him !!!
don’t like Sami (but from today’s show “maybe” things will look up w/Lucas) I do agree Marlena does favor Carrie. But then maybe it’s a way of showing Marlena does have her flaws.
But that’s some flaw wouldn’t you say? LOL. So maybe Marlena is making up to Carrie for ditching Roman? Any way you look at it still stinks for Sami to have that over your head.
Sami’s approach to things is annoying sometimes, but on the topic of Carrie and Marlena, I agree totally with everything you said. I haven’t seen Monday’s episode yet, but whenever Carrie and Marlena are on the screen, I usually do get frustrated with their conversations. I think what Carrie did is pretty much unforgivable, and I don’t say things like that lightly when family issues are involved, but come on–it’s almost the same as what Taylor and EJ did.
Marlena was a big disappointment today, but I am not surprised. The writing has really stunk, and the in-your-face political/social agenda is a real turnoff.
Notwithstanding any past issues btw Marlena and Sami, you are so right about her response today. What sane person would tell a married woman to do what’s in her heart, regardless of the consequences and who might get hurt? Especially since the hurt party is your other child (Carrie IS like a real child to Marlena). Very, very amoral, humanistic response from Marlena, and not at all even maternal.
What’s u p with those stupid gloves Marlena has been wearing? I’m beginning to get tired of her and her dumb opinions.
So now Sami is going to try and keep Lucas from going back to his fiancee. Sami has been jealous of her ever since she found out that Lucas was engaged. SHE WILL NEVER CHANGE. IT’S ALWAY ME, ME, ME, ME – HER, HER, HER, HER.

I completely agree. Not only is it never mentioned that they’re talking about her sister’s husband, but why isn’t anyone asking her if Rafe returns her feelings??? How can you make the gut-wrenching decision to leave your husband without knowing for sure how the other man feels about you??
Carrie is so wrong she sees no wrong in what she is doing though. I am shocked at Marlena;s all smiles attitude with carrie she is encourging her to sleep with Sami;s husband. I think carrie is more for getting back at sami.
and mentally regressing them back to the teens/20s fighting over the same guy crap. Carrie has fought over and over to be with Austin, Sami has fought with Carrie to get whatever man is interested in Carrie, and now we have Carrie doing the same thing again with Sami.
Carrie had Austin, Sami wanted him so she took him away for a while. Carrie turns to Mike.
Sami goes on to another man, Carrie goes back to Austin.
Sami needs Austin so she and he take off to save her after she supposedly killed a guy and is sentenced to death, Carrie turns to Mike again.
Sami drops Austin. Carrie goes back to Austin.
Sami has had Lucas. Carrie marries Lucas too. Both relationships tank. Carrie goes back to Austin. Sami moves on with EJ.
FF Sami marries Rafe. Carrie meets Rafe. Sami splits with Rafe, Carrie goes after Rafe.
Let’s get real here these two half-sisers have shared way too many men!!

Thanks. I know we are quite frequently in the minority on this subject, LOL. I just wonder if Marlena was dealing with a stranger in the same situation as Carrie, would she have given the same advice? If so, I think Doc needs to go back for a refresher course, LOL.
Also, Marlena telling Carrie to follow her heart we all know if it were Sami asking the same question Marlena would be telling her to grow up, stop being selfish, stop trying to hurt her sister and be happy with what she has. She’s pretty much told her that in the past when she was after Austin.
