Can Phillip be in a relationship for more than a week before asking the person for a hand in marriage?!?!? Seriously, this guy needs to let a relationship develop before asking one to get married. I really hope this is either a dream or Mel says "NO!"
I am so sick and tired of these rushed engagements, it really is getting to be DUMB and STUPID. I understand soaps want to shock us, but can we have SOME reality in our shock.
Boy, do I agree. Half the fun of a new couple is the ‘getting together". but, please–no more falling off ladders!!!
but did you see the size of that rock he gave her? I think Phi and Mel have sparks together (or could have) – and they have the ring to start the sparks with!
I like Phillip and Mel….they compliment each other. I kind of like Steph and Nathan, although I like Nathan more than Stephanie. I cant really stand her. She is too much like Hope, with her holier than thou attitude. It seems like every girl on this show gets the same big ass diamond ring. At least Phillip can afford it. Unlike most of the guys who buy that big ring for their girls. Melanie told Phillip that she wanted to wait though didnt she?
she likes both of them in different ways! Nathan is more the secure, stabile type guy while Philip appeals to her independent, rich-loving style. I also suspect that she got in over her head when he proposed. Let’s face it, couples don’t last long on daytime unless they aren’t meant for each other. Wonder how long it will be before Kate tries to control Melanie??? lol
the one in the picture would be my dream ring IF…(heck – I’d take just a plain gold band for true love) I just thought I’d put a BIG Honkin’ ring in post for emphasis in case someone may have missed the sparkler Phillip gave Mel.
Melanie got from Philip! lol His looked huge on her hand and not nearly as attractive. It had to be big enough for Nathan to see across the room, I guess. lol
not for a minute, that Melanie is in love with Phillip; it’s more like lust. And, the same goes for him. She loves what he has to offer her. She said it herself when he asked her if she wanted to go to the Brady/Horton Christmas celebration instead of going with him to some tropical island. She reminded him (and us) of just how shallow she was, and asked when were they leaving. Have they ever had a meaningful relationship? I don’t think so, unless you count the one that was posted on the Internet. Now that was meaningful (LOL). Besides, if she’s so damn much in love with Phillip, why is she looking at Nathan at the hospital children’s Christmas story reading, like she’s ready to cry? Same with Nathan; trying to look like he’s enjoying being there with "Miss Rebound…2008/09" (ughhh, horrible character, Stephanie.) If this wedding goes through, I’ll be surprised.
she was distracted by Phil. So this girl clearly doesn’t know what she wants and why should she? I think we tend to forget she is just a baby – only 18. Mel should not be settling down with any guy.
I’m thinking Melanie wants each of them for different reasons and has different emotions.
Phillip – He’s rich, exciting and everything she’s always wanted in a guy. He’s a bad boy in his own way and comes from a family as disfunctional if not more so than the one she grew up with. Even though Victor looks down his nose at her she feels she fits in.
Nathan – He’s stable, comes from a good family and has Maggie for a grandma. Everything she’s always missed and whether she knows it or not it’s what she’s always needed. She doesn’t feel she deserves Nathan, that she can’t measure up and she’ll be an embarassment to him and his family
I can see her having a stronger relationship with Nathan once she gets over her insecurities and lets herself be loved like she should be.
Phillip is the one who asked Melanie to marry him…so what does he want her for? He’s not in love with her either…I think they just have good chemistry together and compliment each other. I would like to see what develops between the two of them – but I would like a lonnnnnnng engagement period with lot’s of adventures for the two and then have them really fall in love. They could have some good story lines together… I sure didn’t like Mel when she first showed up and now, I do – there is a caring human being in that loopy air head of hers. I think she could "be a contender". I never much cared for Stephanie and I still don’t, (even when she was a "race car driver" and whatever else she’s aspired to be).
The engagement between Chloe and Dan was way too rushed also… poor Lucas barely had time to register what was happening. Now I absolutely LOVE Chloe & Dan as a couple (prob my favorite on the show!)… but I wish they would’ve let them date for a little while first. What happened to couples going out to dinner? Getting dressed up and going out dancing? Did Days get rid of all those sets?? The Blue Note? The nightclub, Dune? All we see now is the Cheatin’ Heart, and occasionally Chez Rouge. Boo.
