Sorry to hear Bryan is leaving. Lucas had his moments. I figured he was on his way out because he was gone again for almost seems like – what? – two months (rehab) and then they bring him back for two or three scenes and then poof gone again – guess he was checking out that big huge house that he had built for Chole the past few days. I do not like when the show brings back a long term person from way back and then doesn’t write a good story line for them, i.e., Patch and Kayla. Hope they don’t do that to Anna, sorry they did it to Lucas. Guess this means that Sami’s with Rafe now…wonder when the fabulous wedding will be? Spring or early summer?
Guess I’m done with Days. Don’t even recogonize the show anymore. I wonder when they will bring in Tabitha and raise Timmy from the dead.

If he’s leaving….wonder if they will send him off, or just make like he’s working or something….just not involved in the SL.? Will Allie now live with Sami? Heck, they had Mickey always away or working…..so, just wondering.
Lucas’s character has not been frontburner in a long time but with the new ‘Will’ coming, I had hopes that Lucas would become a pivotal person. Shoot — I hope the rumor of a gay storyline is not true!
I guess building a set of scenes for Lucas’s new house was out of the questions. Nathan moves on — moves in with ???
Myself, I like Sami’s transformation since she’s been paired with Rafe. Did you pick up on the mention of ‘family’ when Arianna was talking with Gabby … asking for Mom and rest of the family to come to Salem for Christmas? The Horton’s are ‘being erased’ from the chalkboard in the room of the writing staff — entering is the Hernandez family (politically correctness).
This guy was never allowed to grow up. So therefore I won’t miss him. I guess the writers want to focus on a Sami/Rafe/EJ triangle.
We have had new families come and go throughout the years and no one replaces the Horton’s. They have even replaced Mrs. H with Maggie who is a Horton by marriage. So I don’t think the writers ignore them. In fact they brought Nathan on the show and he is a Horton.
I feel sometimes the writers cannot win. When Stephanie was always dating her "cousins" people had issues and said more people outside the core Bady/Hortons needed to be introduced to allow easier pairings. So now the writers bring in more families to allow easier pairing and people feel that a family is getting erased.
I would love to see more Hortons, but the cast can only be so big. Plus you have to allow for people to pair together without pairing up with a family member. I think days has done a good job reminding us the Horton’s are there with Maggie being a central figure right now, but balancing that with bringing in new families who can pair up with the Horton’s and Brady’s.
I personally like Rafe and I think he has brought a lot to the canvass. I also like Ari, and the jury is still out on Gabby because she is too new to decide anything about her.
Let me start with, I was a HUGE Lumi fan all the way until Rafe came into the scene. I hated Sami and EJ together. Now, onto my comments.
The only person Lucas has ever had ANY chemistry with is Sami. Every pairing they have done with him has not worked, except Sami. The issue is, now that I see Sami with Rafe, I see this mature woman. She doesn’t play her games any more and he has forced her to grow up. The relationship they have is Sami can tell Rafe anything, and he won’t flip out, get mad, or have this judgement tone. Because he hasn’t dealt with her that long, he doesn’t have this long history. Therefore, when things come up, he doesn’t go, Not again.
But when Lucas and Sami are together, I feel Lucas never let her grow up. Because any small thing she did, he was down her throat. She needed someone more patient that would allow her to go from this teeager mentality of playing games, to an adult. Therefore, I don’t see a Lucas Sami pairing ever working, because Sami would revert to her old self. The only way I would see it, is many years down the road after Lucas had a mature relationship of his own. If he had ever had chemistry with another character, I could see this as a possibility. But since he hasn’t, I don’t ever seeing him having this mature relationship.
Therefore, that leaves us with another "friend" character out there. I don’t want to see Lucas be another Roman (which with Roman, I think the writers are dumb because he has had chemistry with other woman) and therefore, I would rather see him be off the canvas. The only other way I see him used is that sounding board for Sami, but I would rather see Sami develop a relationship like that with a female. I actually like Nicole and Sami being friends and think it would be great if Sami has that with someone else.
Lucas has grated on my last nerve. And you are absolutely right to say he doesn’t have chemistry with anyone but Sami. I couldn’t stomach Chloe with him. She and Dan are a much better pairing. They don’t seem to know what to do with his character, so better to have his character gone. I love Bryan, he’s so funny. I wish they had let that side of him shine on the show, but instead they always played him as an angry sap–if you can be that. Good luck to him wherever he may go.
I think what made Sami and Lucas such a great pairing is they knew how to have fun and be funny. They had some great funny scenes and it was because of Lucas. But they never could keep that couple that way, they always had to have them regress and be the same old couple that never grew up.
I really like Lucas, but I don’t think the writers do. They don’t seem to know how to write for him as a mature, independent adult – only as an angry, tied to Mama’s apron string, immature, screwup. I wish they would have let him become an independent man who lived his own life and made his own decisions.
