I would think if his mother is about to go away to prison for a long time that he’d want to come back to see her.
Mrs. H passed or a few other things that have happened in her life, (like his parents splitting up?) – these kinds of things drive me batty…
Shawn! But, I don’t see them bringing her back either. I’ll still say that she and John should have been there for Alice’s funeral!
You are absolutely right on! How could "they" possibly have a memorial/funeral for Alice and not have Marlena present? Moreover, Belle and Shawn D were favorites of Mrs. H; they would have moved heaven and earth to be there.
As for the situation with Hope, there is no way Shawn wouldn’t show up for this. I really don’t think the writers even think about these things. If so, they would at least have one or more characters commenting on where Shawn and Belle are and why they couldn’t be in Salem.
They either have to jump through hoops trying to make a situation such as this (or Mrs. H’s funeral) realistic or the character all of a sudden has been wiped off the face of the earth as if they’ve never existed.
only the major character in the show is shown speaking…or just by having say like Julie or Hope’s dad, tell her the next time they visit her in jail, or even Bo say, I spoke to ShawnD, he can’t come home now but he is sending his love and support…I dunno, this would only take a second of precious air time and keep the family unit (such as it is) intact. The way they are doing it, makes it seem that Hope has only had her daughter and not Shawn.
They could even have Shawn visit her off screen. Look how many were off screen for Mickey’s funeral. How many times has something happened and they spoke with someone who was stuck in a snow storm, couldn’t get a flight out, anything but at least mention them.
a "fake" visit, even I would buy that more so than just not mentioning and ignoring his existence (Shawn D) at all…He flew in quickly, without Belle and Claire, to see his Mom and offer her support and had to hurry to get back to them as they were waiting in a port somewhere, (prefaced on they are still sailing around the world). Abe pulled some strings so she could have a longer visit than ten minutes. Yep, (I’d probably gritch at that senario), but I would still buy it…
