Congratulations.
When I had my sheltie I’d take her to my cousin’s for weekends once a month and they’d watch her if I went out of town. Once when I was dropping the dog off my cousin who was about 8 told me I needed to get a cat because I could leave out enough food and water and they’d be good for a week. Sounded good to me but I’d hate the thought of the odor from the litter box after that much time though.
They have a doggie door and I can put out food and water for at least five days and leave them. Five is the most I have done this for and they’ve been fine but I don’t think I’d want to do it for any longer than that. My neighbor does check in on them occasionally just to make sure they are okay.
I am scheduled to go in for my surgery on Dec. 28 for yet another ulcer removal/stomach repair and doc says I’ll be in the hospital four or five days. I will do that while I’m there. I think maybe because they have each other they are okay. I don’t think I’d want to do that if I only had one dog though. Besides, it seems like they sleep most of the time anyway. Well, sleep and then go out and bark at any noise they hear…other dogs, cars, kids, the sun coming up, leaves falling on the ground… :o)
