Just don’t care about John’s past. It’s been TOO DAMN LONG. It’s like the SL with no payoff. Furthermore – how are we supposed to take this seriously when we spent ALL THAT TIME on the Santo/Colleen story and in a 30 second snippet before a commercial we were told (in passing by Hope) that it wasn’t true at all.
The only thing that makes this SL good is Tobin Bell as his father AND the fact that it could fuel OTHER SL’s. But truthfully – I don’t care if John’s father was a goldfish at this point .
John got that whispery voice thing, LOL. Although his dad isn’t as bad all the time I still had to turn the volume all the way up in order to hear them at times.
it was John made up and the voice of dad was a dead ringer’s for Drake’s. Incredible casting. But so far not the relationship I would hope for and at this point with so much dragged out history on just who is John’s father, I feel Days has inevitably disappointed.
I have absolutely zero interest in this storyline. Every time their scenes came on, I reached for my phone. I NEVER FF Days… but I was very tempted yesterday! It just bores me to tears, and there is no connection for me. Like you said, it has dragged on for way too long and the story has changed too many times. Can we please move on??
because I’m really lovig this sl. The actor (Tobin Bell) is fabulous and not only is reliving my memories of those dark days of the 80’s but the actor couldn’t have been better cast to portray John’s father. They look like they could be real life father and son. Sorry is’t not appealing to others, but for my two cents, I welcome it to bring closure not only to John, but to his life with Marlena as well.
it’s boring, and I also reached for my phone throughout yesterday’s entire episode. I didn’t even listen to the exchange between John and his Dad, so maybe he is a goldfish?
We had to disagree at SOME point huh? You’ve been championing this SL from day 1 – so I’m happy that you get to enjoy it. As I said – I love Tobin (that’s all that’s doing it for me at this point.)
But I can safely say that there is not one SL I am enjoying on the show right now. Shame!
Actor Tobin Bell did an episode of Seinfeld (1993 -"The Old Man"). Kramer and Newman took some old record albums to a dealer, hoping to sell them for big bucks. Tobin Bell was the guy behind the counter at the record store. He’s 73 years old. Drake Hogestyn (John Black) is 62 years old. Great makeup to make Bell look old enough to be John’s father.
