I was watching an episode from last Wednesday where Melanie was looking over a patient and Brady walked in and asked why the hospital is making her take care of the man who tried to kill her. Who was the man?  What happened?

it was Troy,  he was in an accident or something, but now he’s in a coma but they said he was down graded, basically he’s brain dead.

Troy attacked Melanie in her apartment and Dario came in and pulled him off.  They fought and was knocked unconscious.  I think that’s what put him in the hospital.

So Troy got out of jail, so why did he go after Melanie?  And how did they figure out he ran down Arianna?

when he got out of jail he learned that Melanie had put a huge reward in the paper for any information leading to the hit-and-run behind the death of Ariana Hernandez.  He attacked Melanie twice, once on the street, wearing a full ski-mask so they did not know who he was.  She was rescued by Dario Hernandez, but Troy got away.  The second time he broke into Daniel’s apartment, where Mel was staying, and hid in the closet.  When Melanie got home he attacked her again, still wearing the same ski mask, intending to kill her.  It was then that he admitted that he ran down Ariana.  Again, Dario to the rescue, but this time Dario knocked him out and pulled off the mask, finding Troy, who Mel Recognized.  He was hospitalized, where he still remains in a coma, supposedly brain dead.

Although Dario knocked Troy unconscious, it was Troy’s history of heavy drug use that caused him to slip into the state of being brain dead.  At least, that’s DOOL’s explanation of the situation.
