Can someone tell me how Kimberly is Abigail’s aunt? I distinctly heard he say, “My aunt Kimberly had that.” Is she trying to connect Kayla and Kimberly so that makes Kimberly her aunt too?

Whoever wrote that line was pulling at relationship straws.

Kayla and Kim are sisters, so if one is an "aunt", the other would be also.

Steve "Patch" Johnson and Jack Deveraux were brothers, although they were not raised together.  Abigail is Jack’s daughter, which makes Steve her uncle.  Steve is married to Kayla, which makes her an aunt, by marriage, to Abigail.  Kimberly and Kayla are sisters, but Kim is technically not Abigail’s aunt.  In some families, however, they may be considered a relative.

That’s a weird way to make a connection.

my sister-in-law is my kids aunt but her sister is an aunt only to my sister-in-law’s children, not mine.

That being said husband’s cousin always had her kids call me Aunt, I don’t know why.

someone’s aunt (or uncle).  My parents had first cousins that I called "aunt" or "uncle".  They were family members that I saw often while growing up and I loved them just as much as my "real" aunts and uncles.  Even when I became an adult, I still called them "aunt" or "uncle".  They are terms of affection and respect.
