I have a litter of collie pups and have gotten a couple inquiries from distant people asking me to airline ship.
Never have and wondered if anyone had this experience and could enlighten me to possible problems.

When I was in CA I got one from GA. There used to be an airline dedicated entirely to pets but, unfortunately, they went out of business.

I’ve read about shipping dogs and each airline has different regulations. Typically, it’s the same as taking one with you when you fly. You deliver them to the airline as air freight and someone picks them up on the other end. My dogs flew with me when I moved here and it was a nine hour ordeal (with plane changes and lay-over) without incident.

There is a lot of information online. Just don’t ship during very hot or very cold weather because of possible waiting time on tarmac.

and had to pay the airline ticket for someone to accompany the puppy here and send that person back. I don’t know if that is typical or if it was just that breeder.

Remember Michael Vick. (Yes, people have money for that kind of stuff). Perhaps try and pick folks to adopt that are semi-close to where you live that you can check on the welfare of the puppy as it is growing up. I belong to two rescue groups and we have a clause in the contract adoption documents that if ever the person(s) adopting want to return the dog, they will be return to us first whether in six days, six weeks, or six years. That way we are reasonably assured that the dog will not be abandoned. We’ve all heard and know of the horror stories in the news of paying passengers being stuck on the tarmac for 9 hours due to a mechanical failure and not being allowed to leave the planes, (and we know what airline tickets cost these days) – what could/would happen to the cargo hold “passengers”? Good luck in your adoption of your puppies! May they find forever loving homes!

within driving distance. Collies are hard to find so I had no problem placing them.
    Thanks for all replies!
