ParticipantI just read that the SOAPNET channel is being turned into a toddlers/preschool channel. Are there not enough of them already? Kids need to be outdoors , not sitting infrront of the tv.

Participantwho do not have Tivo or DVR and are unable to watch soaps during the day. I know when I was still working I didn’t worry about missing the shows I like to watch during the daytime hours, because I knew I could always catch them on SoapNet at night. I vaguely remember reading something a while back about the SoapNet channel either cutting out soaps or going off the air altogether and the soaps were being considered by other networks like the Oxygen channel or something like that. Oh well, we may be closer to the end of daytime TV as we know it much sooner than we suspect.

Participantby the local network – right? At least with SoapNet you could see the whole show without the ‘interruptions’ by the locals for their ‘vital’ breaking news, which usually isn’t!

ParticipantI’m so afraid some day "they" are going to be right. Soaps have been popular since the 40s (or maybe even the 30s, I’m not sure) so I don’t understand why they are now falling out of favor. First it was the game shows that went (and I loved a lot of them), then the soaps. Will the talk shows be next? Although I don’t much care for any of them. What will we have all day, informercials! Aaaarrrgggghhh!

ParticipantI have become so spoiled with my DVR. I record Days and other favorites so that I can Fast Foward through the endless commercials! When I have to watch in "real" time, commercials are potty time, trip to the kitchen, or check the program listing. lol
