ParticipantI don’t know how they could get ANYONE’S fingerprints off that letter. Let’s see who handled it…Mrs. H., Stefano, EJ, Will, John, Marlena, Lucas. But then, I guess the people in Salem crime lab are magic. They determined that EJ and Stefano weren’t related because they didn’t have the same blood type? That’s not a requirement. My father and one brother had different types. They found out when my brother had to have an emergency blood transfusion during surgery. (This was way back in the 30s when the hospitals didn’t have a ready blood supply. My father had O and my brother had AB. I guess that means he wasn’t really my brother. Phfffft!)

Participantthat EJ’s and Stephano’s blood types were not "compatible". I believe that terminology is used when blood work is done to determine paternity. I could be wrong, but that’s my recollection.

ParticipantFather and son do NOT have to have the same blood types. So because they don’t doesn’t necessarily mean they are not related. I think when they do the paternity testing, there can be other factors in the blood involved other than just the type and will often additionally need DNA testing.
So…Roman can not equivocable say that Stefano is not EJ’s father on blood type alone. This show gets so many other medical issues wrong, what else would we expect? :o)

Participantcan definitely determine if a man CANNOT be the biological father of a child, because certain blood types or DNA must be present in both the man and the child to determine paternity. For example, if the father is A and mother is say O, the child must have part of the father’s type blood when he/she is born. I also think this type of testing can only determine if the male is NOT the father, but not that he IS (if that makes any sense). I think that’s what they were going for, but this is Salem. So, that’s it …. E.J. IS AN ALIEN! LOL!

ParticipantTrue, before they did DNA testing for paternity they went with blood type and could only tell that the man couldn’t be the father but could not proove that he was the father. It was based on compatability not exact matches.
