ParticipantBe careful with those doggie doors. I’m on a message board on iVillage and a woman there who lives with her sister was telling us that her sister would get up early and on a few mornings found some of the dog’s treat bags knocked over and their water bowl was very dirty. One Saturday about 3am her dog needed to go out so she took the dog downstairs and when she went to the kitchen she heard a flap on the dog door and thought it was one of the dogs but no, a racoon walked into her house. The racoon had been coming in the doggie door at night, eating the dog treats and drinking their water.

ParticipantI agree but it seems the ones that say PC be da_ned are’t as vocal as the ones that want things to change. We all grew up with Christmas and Easter and I never grew a third eye or sprouted extra limbs so it’s not as damaging as some think it is to say Merry Christmas. I do think it depends on where in the USA you live.
I’m a Christian and was saved in 1995. When I lived in Chicago you didn’t talk about your beliefs and being a Christian was something you hid except for those in your very close circle. I worked for a company and there were a lot of Christians there. They invited me to join their prayer meetings at the same time each day but they had to meet outside of the building. I moved to Alabama in 2003 and it was like culture shock. We have 2 morning radio show personalities on a secular station and they’re always talking about their beliefs, God and Christ. I’ve been to a public meeting where they say a prayer first and I actually worked with a girl who told me she’d never met anyone who didn’t believe in God. I told her she never left Alabama then because the midwest is full of them. Where I worked in homecare we had a meeting each morning to discuss our patients we saw and any new orders we’d received. The manager always ended the meetings with prayer. I kept thinking if I was anywhere other than The Bible Belt she’d have someone sueing her because she was violating their rights NOT to pray.

ParticipantCiera and Theo seem to have a bond so they’ll be the next Belle and Shawn
Pocket and Claire is a possiblity. If Chloe has a boy he could be paired with Allie and by that time and if she has a girl she’d be paird with Johnny. Then we’ve got Sydney to find someone for but by then we’ll have more babies in the mix so who knows.

ParticipantMaybe they’re caving under the pressure of everyone to be "politically correct" and not mention holidays anymore. I mean we can’t mention Christmas in public and I’m sure if you’re not going to mention one you can’t mention any of them.

ParticipantI agree if her lungs were damaged it appears that means they weren’t able to function properly and even though she might be breathing on her own she wouldn’t be able to ventilate effectively so they’d probably have her on more than oxygen BUT in my opinion TV shows and soaps in particular seem to get oxygen and life support confused. Lack of medical advisors there.
I remember when I first started working at the hospital they had a cart with a shelf underneath. They’d put the body on the shelf and have a sheet over the top covering the shelf so when they wheeled it out past patients and families it looked like it was empty.

ParticipantI’m thinking Caroline only said she did to get Kayla to butt out of Bo’s life. Even though we know he’s making a mistake with Carly, Caroline might feel if he’s happy that’s all that matters and Kayla has no business swooping into town and destroying that by saying anything to Bo when it’s really none of his business either.

ParticipantThe dogs usually sleep at the head of the bed but Stretch does wind up between us at some point during the night and she likes to snuggle with Don. He gets up before I do and Ellie’s jumping to go out but sometimes Stretch will get under his covers and not come out until 10 or 11am and I end up carrying her to the door and pushing her out because I don’t want any accidents on the floor. As soon as Don lets Ellie back in she runs back on the bed and starts pawing at me to let her under the blanket so she can snuggle behind my knees. A few times if I’m too close to the end of the bed Ellie will stand on the floor with her front paws on the bed and hit it or something so it bounces and wakes me up. Of course when Don does yard work he likes to get out by 7:30 to be done before it starts to get too hot and then Ellie’s in the room whining for me to get up because she HATES it when one of us is outside and she’s not.
Usually after dinner we sit in the living room to watch TV and they get their treats. It’s gotten so they expect them and while Don’s doing the dishes (I cook and set the table, he clears the table and washes dishes) I’ll sit on the couch and Stretch will jump up, plant her front paws on my chest and stare me in the face willing me to give her a treat. We’ve gotten Ellie to ask for them and she actually looks and sounds like she’s trying to talk. Now Stretch will whimper a little trying to talk and ask for the treats also. Usually we have to tell Ellie to tell us what she wants before she’ll ask but tonight I sat down and Ellie started asking and running around looking for the treat jar. I mean she’ll jump on the arm of the couch and look on the floor behind the couch, she’ll get on the love seat which is in front of the window and look over the back of it. If she only knew the jar was in the kitchen waiting for Don to bring it in.

ParticipantI’m with you on that. The way they greet you when you come in from getting the mail is no different than if you’ve been gone half the day, they love to snuggle and our Ellie moans and maked squeaky noises when we rub her chest or hears in just the right spot. I get woke up on the morning by Stretch’s nose as she’s trying to get under my covers or Ellie pawing the back of my head trying to get my attention and sometimes if they sleep longer than I do I wake up to Ellie sharing my pillow with her head against mine of her chin on the top of my head.
Plus they listen better than kids do.

ParticipantGuess I didn’t think along those lines since it has scenes of Melanie and Phillip on their bed and Nathan and Stephanie outside the pub. We all know those couples are going to be history but when is up in the air. Hopefully the writers will make it happen soon but with our luck it won’t be until February or May or whever the next sweeps are after November. That’s probably when it will come out about Phillip and Chloe and we’ll find out who’s baby it really is and who switched the paternity test. Of course maybe OUR Christmas miracle will be the end of Nathan and Stephane and the beginning of Nathan and Melanie. That would be a great gift to the readers.

ParticipantThings might have changed since I stopped working at the hospital in 2000 but even at that time a family could change any decision a patient makes if the patient can’t speak for themselves. The family could even override the living will and we’d had that happen on more than one occasion. There were times we wanted to slap the family silly for the decisions they were making that we knew went against what the patient wanted or when we knew there was no hope and they were just delaying the inevitable but in the end it was their decision to make.

ParticipantSince Melanie’s not a Horton I don’t think she’d be the new Lady Horton. Stephanie would only be the Lady Horton if her and Nathan get married and I’m sure we all know or maybe it’s hope that he’ll come to his senses before that happens. I’m thinking the new Lady Horton would be Maggie or maybe Julie. Hope’s also a possibility in that role but I don’t think so with Maggie and Julie still being around. BUT since Melissa’s there to stay it could be her.

ParticipantI’m not sure how the meds would affect things like corneas and skin but they might be able to use that stuff.
I remember my brother always said he wanted his body donated to science and when he died my mom said NO WAY.

ParticipantI saw Cabin exterior and cabin and Bo and Hope so it looks like Hope does get out of Prison by Christmas.
Didn’t see Sami in any of those scenes but did see Nicole and EJ at Johnny’s hospital room and the waiting room.
Daniels apartment has Daniel, Carly, Rafe and Chloe. Wonder what that’s all about and where Sami is since she doesn’t seem to be at the hospital with Johnny.

ParticipantI worked with 2 women from India. One had an odor about her that would gag a maggot. If she had her purse or jacket near yours you could smell it for days. When I got engaged she touched my hand to look at my ring and I washed several times before the odor would fade. I worked in a hospital at that time with patients with lung diseases and one of our regular patients asked if she’d ever heard of deoderant. I guess it was all the spices coming out of her pores.
The other woman had no odor at all and she explained it was because of the different parts or India they were from. Sort of like the US and BBQ. Different parts of the country use different sauces, some are sweet and others are hot. The one with no odor took my boss and I to an Indian restaurant for dinner and the food was excellent. She knew what to order that wasn’t overpowering and my favorite was Tandori Chicken. It was made with yogurt and some spices but more mild. There was also a flat bread like a cracker that had a kick to it but I wanted more.

ParticipantAnything that affects the lungs will eventually damage or affect the heart and vice versa. How long it takes for that to happen just depends on what it is. Also when there’s damage to the heart you risk damaging the kidneys as well then the other organs will follow suit. BUT the best organ donors are young people who die in accidents since there usually wasn’t any disease and heavy duty medications over a long period of time involved. I heard an argument for helmets on kids riding bicycles that kids and head injuries make the best organ donors.
