might be a good choice. He’s not just a singer but producer as well and I know he was tough on his (ex)wife in the studio. I want to see someone who knows the biz and knows how to present a song. Not simply “a little pitchy.” I would have loved to see the late great John Lennon on this show. Edgy, witty, tell it like it is.

Although I did not see the entire show, I too LOVED the rings part and the larger than life figures and Beckham (but then isn’t he one handsome dude!). The concept though for me went awry. I think the historical part was admirable, but went on too long and then got off track with the modern era and couldn’t see how that bedtime sequence fit in. The rapping was annoying and loud and the whole thing disintegrated into a jumbled mess. I would rather have seen a bolder contrast between the industrial revolution and the British music revolution and then bring on Macca.
I too agree that age seems to be catching up to the Beatle. I’ve noticed over his past several appearances a weaker voice. But still always a pleasure to see him.
Looking forward most to the women’s gymnastics team to see if they can live up to the hype. And will Phelps make an impact? I think he might be past his prime.
