I must admit, this story line touched a nerve with me.  I was diagnosed with ovarian cancer 12 years ago, and before my surgery (which is when I received the diagnosis) I went through the exact steps Sami did:

    •
    • reading about possible diagnoses on the internet
    • thinking about your kids living without you
    • not telling the kids before you go in to the hospital
    • telling your husband that this is happening to YOU and not realizing it’s also happening to HIM

I think I’ve handled this story very well so far.  And it’s also given Sami a chance to deal with some reality here.

I agree,  I think her reactions are pretty realistic,   I remember my first thought if that I was going to lose all my hair.  silly thought to think about first thing.   I was just stunned to hear the word cancer.  (I never had to lose my hair though thankfully).  however, I would never break into the hospital to get my results.  Thats typical Sami behavior.
