about the injury and that’s one big thing I worry about these running QBs. At least if he can’t go the Ravs are in no danger of missing the playoffs and hopefully time off if needed will be fine for that. RG3 is such a sad story. His star was like a super nova that blew out way too soon. But is it that he just never recovered from the injury or something more? I recall he also had some personality conflicts with teammates.
How bout this latest “videogate” fiasco with the Patriots?December 11, 2019 at 12:21 pm #56666powerpaw2ParticipantWhen I was learning to play football, the general rule was if you are trying to bring down someone big and powerful you try to wrap up their legs. If they were more of a Barry Sanders type runner, you’d go for the upper body because they could easily dance away from them. Years ago in VA some teenagers were playing in a field where I was walking Chip. A smaller guy had his arms wrapped around the torso of a bigger guy and the runner was just dragging the would-be tackler along. I told him about tackling around the legs and he was amazed how well it worked (or that a 50-some year old woman knew about it) when he did just that. With that being said, it’s a different thing when a 300 pound guy wearing pads launches at the unprotected legs of another player. Cam Newton often complained about that very thing (with little being done about it), so I’m curious as to if the refs will be watching for the same thing regarding Lamar and if they will be reaching in their pockets for the flag.
I was living in Central VA when RG3 was with the Redskins. If I remember correctly he had that awesome first season then got hurt. Word had it there were personal conflicts with teammates as well as the head coach. Seems like a good guy, so I felt badly for him.
The Patriots claim the person was video taping for a TV show or something like that. My first question is why wouldn’t you be filming at a Patriots game. And the answer is?????
Last night I ran into one of our local sportscasters (Brent Martineau) at the grocery store. I introduced myself stating I was the one who had called his radio show about the town hall. We had a nice chat that carried on into the parking lot for about 10 minutes. He still thinks it’s a great idea, but is trying to figure out how to best present the idea to the Jags organization.

He was at an event I worked to collect Hurricane Michael relief supplies, but I knew he wouldn’t remember me so I didn’t bring it up. I thought he seemed like a nice guy then and last night solidified my opinion as he let me go on and on about love of football, how I loved baseball until they cheated us out of the World Series in ’94, as well as other stuff.
