Does anyone else think John has been “off” his usual self? It seems to me ever since he went gray, this character has been acting like he’s in a haze. From the scene where Hattie announced she was leaving him to today where his line delivery was very odd – even his voice came across to me like a child and less than confident – this doesn’t seem like the take charge ISA leader guy. I don’t know if this is simply how he’s being directed or what, but this isn’t John Black.

could be residual effects from his very serious injury last year. He never was the sharpest actor on the show, but I think he’s his old self when he’s playing with Dee/Marlena – the connection is still there!

I think he has been just awful. The whispering, the mannerisms, he just seems like he does not know what he is supposed to be doing. If it is the directing, then they should be ashamed of themselves. I’m really hoping the actor is ok because even his stance and posture are bad. I know he has aged, but where is this tough, smart ISA spy. I want him back, pronto.

I will say this, he threw a good punch when he slugged Roman, but then he messed that up by the way he apologized… not the apology, which was in order but the way in which he did it. Maybe there are some lingering side effects from the Stephano stuff in the lab with new John and the shot from the crazy lady shrink doctor that stabbed him with the needle, that was meant for Marlena. hmmm.

I know the actor was injured, but never heard what kind of injury. Was it a head injury? That might explain the slowness of line delivery I noticed. Hope it isn’t age related. I don’t know why he has let his hair go white. A lot of older (and I mean very older) people color their hair. I have a friend in his eighties who does.

Dralke sustained a head injury while performing a stunt – like running into a door or something and was down and out for quite a long time. He was never a powerhouse actor – unless he was in scenes with his lady loves, especially Dee/Marlena – he does that whispery thing that’s kinda annoying. But he emotes okay with certain people. I’m sure they’ve got him on “light duty” since he’s returned. I hope he can maintain and sustain his good guy/hero character for a long time – he’s still quite handsome and he and Dee/Marlena are a unit! They belong together!

their interaction in the loony bin and he’s been more like old John. One of the bright spots in this silly SL.

…Casey – I’ve never been a fan of doppleganger stories – evil twins and what-not – this can’t get over soon enough for me!

Bill Hayes (Doug Williams) let his hair go white and it looks good on him.  At the age of 92, he is still a handsome man.

As a 54 year old who has embraced my gray, I’m more than happy to see actors and actresses with their natural hair color. My own mother at 85 continues to dye her hair and it drives me nuts. I just spent a week on a cruise with her and her friends and all I can say is those who dye their hair at that age look ridiculous. They aren’t fooling anyone. When your face is full of wrinkles and you move like an 80 year old, no one is going to think you’re in your 40s because your hair is dark.

dyed or bleached hair sometimes looks too harsh on an older face. An older person’s skin tone  usually looks better with naturally gray or white hair.

90? But either way he hasn’t changed much!

Several Internet sites list his date of birth as June 5, 1925.

unless the person has very dark hair that hasn’t gone gray very much, then the dark hair makes wrinkles look even deeper. My sister’s hair dresser suggested she put lighter shades in her black hair for this reason.
