Is Caroline Brady (Peggy) coming back from California?

Since Caroline hasn’t been seen for a while, been reglated to the upper floors of the pub and cooking, and now suddenly she’s whisked off to Califorina on an medical emegency with her daughter, is she being written off?  I was hoping that (and would have loved to see) Victor and Caroline would get together since Shawn has been gone quiet awhile now.  Plus, it would have irked Vivian to no end, which would be another little sub-story that to me would be really interesting.
