I wasn’t watching during all that.  I heard mention of a "virus" but that’s it.

How old was she and how did she die?

what it was, maybe "meningitus?"  She was a few months old. Enough time for Sami and Rafe to bond with her and suffer from her loss.  Sami at first didn’t want EJ to realize he was her father so she left her at the convent and then told everyone she adopted her.  EJ didn’t suspect that she was his and Sami’s child (not that she was).   Ali S. and Galen G. did an incredible job during her death story.  It was definitely Emmy nomination stuff.  It was extremely emotional.  When Nicole learned that the baby was very sick and not likely to make it she snuck Mia into the hospital to see her.  Mia had become attached to her child due to spending time with Will.  Nicole even told a nurse that Mia was the ‘mother’ which didn’t make a connection with Mia until recently.

I thought it was terribly cruel of Nichole to say to Mia that it was Sami’s fault that Grace died. I know Nichole was desperately trying to further manipulate Mia, but when she said that I was upset that Mia, due to her youth, would believe that Sami really could have been negligent (responsible) for the baby’s death. In retrospect, I’d think Mia could recall, at the time of Grace’s passing, that everyone said it was not Will’s Mom’s fault … which probably happened, because Mia didn’t fall for Nichole’s ‘bull’. These two characters have a lot of self pity going on. At least Mia can visit the grave site for closure.

SW, something in your post hit home with me.  I’ve been reading across the message boards everyone’s opinions on Ari Z’s performance throughout this storyline, and I couldn’t agree more; she has been superb.  However, that being said, Ali Sweeney has really brought it for me as well.  When Grace died, Ali’s performance moved me to tears more than once.  Her performance has been just as good, to me anyway, as Ari’s.  I can’t imagine how hard it must have been for those two magnificent actresses to put so much realism into their acting, with one just giving birth to a little girl not so long ago (Ali) and the other with a baby girl due in a very short time.  I also thought James Scott did an awesome job with the storyline, even though it appears he is going to be returning to his ‘dark’ side.  I thought his acting was terrific.  All three of these actors’ performances were Emmy-worthy, and I will be very surprised if they are not right in there at next year’s show.
