like Randy and Simon like to point out, then it was the wrong decision. I still think Casey will be gone next week.

We were positive Crystal would be the one voted off.  Why? Because she’s the best of the group.  In past seasons the front runners have been voted off in 4th place.   Think Daughtry, Melinda Doolittle, Allison Araheta (my opinion better than Adam).  If I were the contestants I’d rather be voted off in 3rd or 4th place since they’re done with Idol after the summer tour where the winner and 2nd place are locked into longer contracts.  Look at how far Jennifer Hudson and Daughtry have gone.  Idol gave them exposure but the rest was their talent and ability to make choices based on their strengths and not be locked into the type of performer Idol producers want them to be.

last night and YES – love their music (went on-line to listen to them) great group – if he didn’t win – that year was rigged!  I think last year the judges were pushing for that Lambert fellow – not my cup of tea but then what do I know?  I’m still into the Stones, Beatles, Joplin, Skynyrd and "Innagadavida Baby"

One thing I have learned over the years is that nothing is a sure thing on AI – I was SURE Melinda would win.  I was SURE Adam would win.  Remember that the majority of voters are 13 year old girls who vote a thousand times each.  But I agree, with Crystal’s talent and following she would probably do better on her own.  Although!  Carrie Underwood has certainly not suffered and she won.  AOL has an interesting article today about the contracts these kids sign – very interesting!

Could you post the link to the article? I’d like to read it.

a contract is like with American Idol contestants…like if they are "notified" as to who’s going to loose on any given night – these non-disclosure contracts are pretty binding.  Please post it if you could – thanks!

I do know 2 sisters who tried out 2 years ago and one made it to Hollywood but was voted off early on.  They had made a couple of CD’s before auditioning and had a website but had to shut it down before being on the show.  I guess they considered that an unfair advantage.  I’d also heard that the winner is in for a longer contract than the runner up but after the first 2 places the contestants are only under contract until the summer tour ends.  Anything else I’m not sure of.

of Elliston, Ohio is a short distance from where I live.  She was home this past Friday for a day filled with the most incredible events for her.  I hope when they broadcast the video on this week’s show that they do justice to how it was.  She was overwhelmed with gratitude and was most gracious even though she had to be totally exhausted.  The closest big city is Toledo and they did a big parade downtown at Noon with her giving a short concert afterward.  She also threw out the first pitch and sang the National Anthem at the Toledo Mudhens baseball game (they’re the farm league for the Detroit Tigers) in the evening.  She had her son, Tony, in her arms as she sang and she had the biggest smile on her face afterwards.  Later that day, she got a chance to perform with her buddy, Frankie May, who she talks about on the show at a concert near her hometown.  And, I don’t know how she did it, but she stopped by Papa’s Tavern and got a chance to see some many of her friends who have supported her for so long.  Toledo’s newspaper, The Blade, did a whole section in the Sunday edition chronicling her day.  It was really great! Her personal story is one of struggle with a lot of courage and fortitude from such a young lady.  I hope she has a super successful career whether she wins AI or not.

Now that you’ve retired (CONGRATS!) I need your new email address – unless the BGSU address still works.

Nothing important going on, just want an update on your sister and I do enjoy our occasional correspondence.  Kathy

The BGSU is still viable.  They let us keep it indefinitely.  I brought home so much paperwork when I left on April 16 that I can’t find your e-mail!  I’m still sorting through all that stufff!  So send me one at BGSU and then you and I can get back on track.
