I just got word from Hans’ wife, Amy, that Hans’ father, Joe Rueffert, passed away today.  He was 70.

If you could please keep the family in your thoughts and prayers…

From his semi-annual checkup at M.D. Anderson in Texas.  He didn’t report his results but we’re all hoping for NED (No Evidence of Disease).

Just a year ago at this time he had that massive brain infection that nearly took him away from us again.

I ate at his restaurant ~ November – he had bought the restaurant and inn from his parents and he was replacing the 2 old aquariums with one bigger one (which he bought from me – he’s been my customer forever).

I’ve met his Dad a handful of times- he too was an aquarium hobbyist.  His whole family is just so nice.  It truly is a great loss.

Hans’ sister, Sonja, passed away from cancer also – I don’t know how many years ago (I forget) but I believe either her birthday or the anniversary of her passing was in late Feb.

Joe (Hans’ Dad) had pneumonia and he didn’t recover from it.  They took him off life support at 2:00 yesterday (March 19).  He was only 69.

Sounds like these folks have had more than their share of bad days – my heart and prayers go out to them.

about Hans’ dad.  It doesn’t seem like many of us old regulars visit the other two sites and I didn’t see it here before I posted.  Again, I’m sorry for jumping the gun.
