I know there were issues where they were all taken off contract – only to put (some) back on. And then Covid happened which likely played a part in how that stuff played out. But WOW:

That’s a lot of people. Who are we gonna watch? The snooze fest of John/Marlena, Jack/Jen, Steve/Kayla? OY!!! I think Patti said on the other forum – makes you wonder if TPTB really are trying to kill the show.
will return in Feb. I hope some of these others will return at some point also, especially Will and Sonny and even Gabi.
I read an article saying Victoria was very difficult to deal with and not well liked behind the scenes by anyone involved with the show. Pretty surprising, she always comes across in the few interviews I’ve seen as pretty sweet.
Ciara on a full time basis then she may as well stay gone. Ben and Ciara are about the only reason I still watch. Especially knowing that Will and Sonny are leaving, Kristian Alfonso Galen Gering and apparently Camilla Banus although I still havent seen anything definite on that. I mean seriously who’s gonna be left that will make it worth watching?John and Marlena? Doug and Julie? Roman? Steve and Kayla? All good characters but they are all getting a bit long in the tooth to carry the interest of anyone not on Medicare. Nope I think this show is done. I hope they at least bring everyone back and wrap up some stories to provide a happy ending for the characters.
Her managers have been shopping her around for a year. I think she’s in high demand and this was the perfect time to try something new.
